PG-13 Horror
I just don't understand-lately horror movies are PG-13---Thats not good horror--I like it back in the 70's & 80's fuck the big screen let just make a horror-If it sells it sells--- Horror and PG-13 don't even sound right together-Thats just like a girl saying lets fuck with our cloths on.
|
I saw CUrsed and it was a decent PG-13 but it might have been better if it had been rated R.
|
pg-13 movie's make me want to pee on myself.:(

It's not just horror films that are being affected. In England King Arthur was released as a certificate 12,our version of a PG-13.All the battle scenes were virtually blood free and the violence was left to your imagination.
A few months later the film was released on DVD and guess what, it was loudly advertised as being the uncut, not seen in the cinema version. Now you could see the film as it was meant to be viewed, with graphic fight scenes including plenty of blood and decapitations. It's just a pure money making exercise and the only answer is to boycott the movies at the cinema if they are released watered down. The trouble is there's not enough enough of us out there who give a shit enough to make a difference. |
true horror movies should be either rated r or nc17. some of these pg13 films arnt bad, as films but as horrer the come off making me want to go kill myself after seeing how shameful some people are.
|
No one should censor anything, it should all be left alone
Its not like a film called 'Massacre at Central High' is about fluffy rabbits is it? You never hear me complaining about how a film was too wholesome, I just watch what I want to watch and if it offrends me I have an OFF BUTTON |
I believe that people have lost the ability to make scary films without blood and gore. That's sort of the flipside of the other complaint, that filmmakers water down their product to suit audience demographics.
But remember, they were gonna make the "Dawn of the Dead" remake as a PG-13 originally, and finally came to their senses and delivered an R-rated flick. (Not that remaking it was a good idea in the first place. But I digress.) |
I agree with Filmmaker. A movie doesnt NEED tits and buckets of gore to be good [Although it can help:D]. Just look at older movies, classics like Pit and the Pendulum. Not an ounce of blood, not a single curse word, no nudity whatsoever. The Dr. Phibes movies, though plently bloody, only earned PG-13 ratings. Plus, many "R" rated movies really dont deserve to be. How bout the original TCM?

gore really isnt neccesary, violence is, tits also not neccesary/
remeber the original chainsaw massacare, it went down as one of the bloodest films of all time. in truth the film had very little blood. sometimes what you cant see is far far worse than what you can. the films scare value is also dependent on the writing, directing, and exspecialy the acting, if you have dry acters you automaticly have a piece of shit on your hands, and nobody likes that. plus its nasty. |

why even make horror film if your not going to let the blood flow?
|
because blood isn't scary
|
cut a hole into your leg and tell me your not scared.
|
Blood is everything to a horror movie-Which scene is better-A old man getting knocked down for his welfare check or A old man getting his head chopped off for his welfare check?
I want the rated R verson |

But, then, that's a bad example. You can't have a GOOD example of this, because anything out of context is immediately a bad example. |
i dont know why sex would be obnoxious to you
|
you could also say blair witch project sucked ass.

blood isn't everything to a horror movie, a horror movie is meant to be scary and what's scary about blood? Silence of the Lambs Halloween Night of the Living Dead Psycho Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Shining The Exorcist Carrie these are some of the best not just horror but overall films ever made and they have little to no blood at all. |
dude carrie was pretty bloody, also when lecture butterflyed the guard there was quite a bit of blood not to mention other parts.
|
what other parts?
Carrie wasn't bloody imo. |
brain fart i was thinging about the red dragon parts, but the butterfly was pretty bloody.
as for carrie the pigs death, and prom night. starting with the winners speach. |
If you want to get really technical....The Shining was actually one of the bloodiest movies Ive ever seen.:p
But ya...blood is not nessecary. Heck, ya dont even need to kill anyone, y'all like Poltergiest, doncha? Exactly, not a single death. |

Se7en was (and is) the greatest horror movie of all time, and there's not THAT much blood in it. The makeup effects and all that are a bit gruesome, but no blood. Just drenched in atmosphere and geniusness
|
if alot of sex is present then there needs to be death sex.
|
seven was coo, although i would rather roll with 12 monkeys.
|
se7en was way better than 12 monkeys.
|
there are very few non r-rated horror films.
To keep a PG rating it's pandering to the kids. its not just about the blood, the language or the sex,... its about a little bit of all 3. What would i find compelling about something geared to a kid ? i can think of 2 or 3 decent ones .. Lady in White comes to mind ... uhmm ok i can think of one. as a rule i'll avoid a 'horror film' if it doesnt at least have an R rating. I prefer movies about adults .. acting like adults. |
fucking a man, damn right. at least r or nc17

poltergeist was boring, there was no impact on my life whatso ever after i seen it.:(

A good horror movie plays on fears
The Fog which was/is a good film has next to no gore Some films need it... it all depends on what you are trying to depict If you are going to kill a whore in a whore house, there is no point in expecting no/little nudity or no blood If you have a film where it plays on you inner fear such as Se7en, Halloween, Silence of the Lambs etc then gore is a secondry thing |

I just don't see a need for it at all, zombie films and others like it that actually need it sure but if it's nothing like that then I just don't see the need for it, it's not scary. |

Once again, Se7en. Greatest horror movie of all time, very little blood or gore or nudity. |
Some pg-13 movies pull it off, but theu rely on what all good horror movies rely on: (and i have said this a thousand times before.....)
Atmosphere. The Ring was pg 13. it didnt need gore (no pun intended), or swearing, or nudity, and still managed to be an extremely effective movie. The scariest parts in the exorcist could easily make it into a tv viewing of it, because it is "Your mother sucks cocks in hell, karras!" that is scary, it's the moaning, the death face, reagan's head rotaing 180 degrees, her face morphoing just before grabbing the psychologit's package, so on. Jesus, the scariest part of most horror video games is the sound, not the action. I haoppen to think that an R rating is necesarry for most of them though. Se7en misses way too much of it's atmosphere if swearing is missing. how do you shotw the dirty underside of society without it? And the guy who is forced to kill the hooker? How much impact would that scene have had if he was freaking out and said "He made me screw her!" blah.... Or John Doe's speeches at the end? Honestly, without the word fuck, what he said would not have had the same impact or show his disgust well enough (Even though it is kevin spacey...) What would alien be without gore? That movie is alos all about atmosphere, but ther chestburster scene required gore. That is a good, effective use of gore. it was shocking and unexpected. In a lot of other movies (puppet master anyone?) it is there as the POINT of the movie. it didnt push the story foward, it was the sdtory. |
