Favorite Bond Flick

it just hit me that i dont recall an actual thread about this before. (at least not about this specifically)

If i had to pick one that i could watch over and over, it would have to be Live and Let Die. It has one of the best theme songs, i love Yaphet Koto, and there are few women on earth that are better looking than a young Jane Seymour.

And james bond is a dirty old bastard in that one. She was a virgin when she met him.... :)

urgeok 03-11-2005 04:54 AM

thats a toughie ..

The man with the golden gun for nostalgia..(1st one i ever saw)

Diamonds are Forever for having a little bit of everything

You only Live Twice for the best score

A View to a Kill for best Villian

Tomorrow Never Dies - for bringing the series back online ..

cant pick just one ..

Vodstok 03-11-2005 05:13 AM

Kinda like potato chips.

I could seriously sit and watch them all back-to back. All i would need is beer, some hard liquor, and an endless supply of greasy food.

Maybe i should bet someone a large sum of money that i could watch all of them in order (Sans casino royale and never say Never again, they dont count.) without sleeping....

I think $1000 would be a good start.... I need to start an office pool :D

The_Return 03-11-2005 05:31 AM

Ive only seen 1 Bond film straight through, but Ive seen parts of alot of them.

Whenever theres one on TV [Fairly often, oddly enough], I try to watch it...I can never stand the whole thing.

The one I saw was Thunderball. That is the reason I havnt seen another, I hated that movie. Boring, no cool gadgets [Well, I didnt think so]....I might need to rent some more though, that was quite awhile ago that I saw that one...

I gotta agree with Vod on Live and Let Die tho...havnt seen it, but damn thats a great song:cool:

Vodstok 03-11-2005 05:56 AM

Go see them. NOWWW!

Thunderball is great, but you have to think in terms of context, uit came out in the 60s and blew people away back then.

Plus, it had Fiona Volpe (played by Luciana Paluzzi) who is easily one of the hottest bond women ever. I watched a special on bond girls last year, and even now she is still very pretty (and humble, she seemed very freindly)

Honor blackman, on the other hand, was an arrogant snob.

AUSTIN316426808 03-11-2005 06:11 AM

Tomorrow Never Dies

Golden Gun(forgot the complete title)

Vodstok 03-11-2005 06:25 AM

The man with the Golden Gun, starring Christopher Lee (yay), Maude Adams, and Herve Villeches(boo)

Live and let Die had parts in New Orleans :)

And, it had (drumroll please)

Sherrif J.W. Pepper (pronounced "Peppa")

"You picked the wrong parish to haul ass through, boy!"

urgeok 03-11-2005 06:38 AM

hey ! you're that english secret agent fella, from england !

Vodstok 03-11-2005 06:48 AM

HAHA! i love that character. The only secondary character like that to make it through more than one bond flick (Jaws doesnt count)

as funny as he was .. it earmarked the period of when the bond films really started to go to shit ...
culminating in the unwatchable - moonraker ..

Vodstok 03-11-2005 06:53 AM

Oh, moonraker isnt unwatchable, it's just terrible :)

You mean to tell me you wont watch it just to hear a woman call herself "Holly Goodhead"?

Moonraker is the one bond movie that makes Austin Powers look serious.

Ever notice that in moonraker, the spy who love dme, and for your eyes only, they all have scenes that take place in italy, and in all three of them, they have the same guy witnessing something strange and sitting up from drinking wine? Weird little bit of trivia.

all i can say is that when you have footage of a bunch of pigeons being run in reverse and forward again to make it look like they're doing a doubletake ?

it isnt a bond film ...

Because of this, I must see this movie ASAP...this movie is meant to be serious? Lololol

Vodstok 03-11-2005 07:27 AM

It was the 70s man....

Taste was non existant. Check the dictionaries from that decade and the word taste ONLY meant something you did with food.

But yeah, it was a retarded movie. The cable car scene in rio still makes me sweat though. Kinda like the one in Where Eagles Dare....

great movie

Lt. Morris Schaffer, cool character.

Vodstok 03-11-2005 07:33 AM

I love how Richard Burton fucks with everyone's head. No one has a fucking clue of what he is doing until the last 15 minutes or so.

And you gotta love a guy who would shoot a woman in the back :) That is fucking hardcore.

newb 03-11-2005 08:16 AM

I'll have to go with my first...Goldfinger.
Followed by The Man With The Golden Gun.

Vodstok 03-11-2005 08:34 AM

Goldfinger is definately one of the best.

"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die!"

Love it.

I love what SickBoy said in Trainspotting about it:
"And who can forget Honor Blackman as Miss Pussy Galore. What a total fucking misnomer..."

urgeok 03-11-2005 08:40 AM

On Her Majesties Secret Service was a landmark Bond too ..

pretty fun movie ..

Vodstok 03-11-2005 08:55 AM

That one is my least favorite. i dopnt much care for lazenby, but the main reason is that it is such a total fucking downer.

Which, of course, makes it very notable.

And lkeep in mind, there are no bad bond films in my estimation.

urgeok 03-11-2005 09:06 AM

oh i thought he stepped up to the plate admirably ...

loved the mountain top fortress of international honeys ..
i thought bond was going to screw his way around the world :)

Vodstok 03-11-2005 09:24 AM

the worst buzkill in any bonfd movie ever was in that one... you think it's going to be th redhead waiting for him and BAM, Frau Blucher.....

*horse whinying...*

slasherman 03-11-2005 09:27 AM

"The spy who loved me"

The Mothman 03-11-2005 06:58 PM

I would have to say "The Man With The Golden Gun"

LOL> the guy had 3 nipples for christ sake.

Sedated_replica 03-11-2005 07:50 PM

Golden Eye, my generation is past all the original Bond films

The Mothman 03-11-2005 08:12 PM

ya so is mine, but i still love the 3 nipples guy lol.

The_Return 03-13-2005 06:39 AM

I thought you rabit Bond fans might be interested in todays IMDb poll:

You want to watch a James Bond movie, but the only ones available are those starring Timothy Dalton and George Lazenby -- who do you pick??

aborted 03-13-2005 06:49 AM

Diamonds are Forever is my favorite just because its the only bond movie that i didnt get bored once watching in every other bond movie no matter how good it was there was always one part where i thought of turning it off and doing sompthing else.

Same here

immortalem 03-13-2005 05:15 PM

Diamonds are forever and Goldeneye are my favorite Bond films.

AUSTIN316426808 03-13-2005 05:24 PM

I think Brosnon is done and Colin Ferrall is being considered but after Alexander and the fact that he's working on a Miami Vice movie I don't know if he's still in the running for it.

Elvis_Christ 03-13-2005 06:29 PM

The Living Daylights and A Veiw To A Kill......;) Hey I'm a 80s kid!

I refuse to watch Colin Farrel as James Bond. Can you imagine an Irish bond with a unibrow?

I thought the same thing about Brosnon at first minus the Irish unibrow part.

Vodstok 03-14-2005 05:05 AM

I knew Brosnan would be good. He is suave and good looking (i mean that in a strictly hetero way...), i figured he would be perfect for the part.

Farrel just strikes me as a bit of a creepy scumbag. i wouldnt leave him alone with my sister....

AUSTIN316426808 03-14-2005 05:11 AM

the only thing I'd seen Brosnon in was Ms. Doubtfire and that's the last thing I wanted to base someone's acting ability on so I didn't know what to expect from him.

as for Ferrel I agree, he does look a little creepy sometimes ecspecially when he's sporting that bald look like he did in Daredevil.

Vodstok 03-14-2005 05:41 AM

Hmph... Daredevil....

At least it wasnt a remake, right?

I hate Ben Affleck.... I so fucking hate him.. And by proxy, I hate Jennifer Garner...

Micahel clark Duncan as kingpin... I like MCD, dont get me wrong, but.......

Ving Rhames as Kojak, anyone?

I guess as long as he doesnt appear as Blofeld in a modernised adaption of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" ill be okay with it...

And coincidinky of all coincidinkies....

I typed "Ving Rhames", and he was just introduced in Dawn of the Dead (which i am watching right now)

urgeok 03-14-2005 05:43 AM

why does everyone hate afflect ?

i think he seems pretty cool ..

gott a love a guy who'll goof around in a kevin smith movie like he does ..

AUSTIN316426808 03-14-2005 05:48 AM

he's worked with Kevin Smith,he made Good Will Hunting and he's gotten with Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner, I don't hate him I envy him.

Vodstok 03-14-2005 06:04 AM

From what i have seen, his women are not particularly great people, his acting is usually so-so,, and looking at him just makes me want to punch him.

Plus, anyone who would be involved in "Phantoms" pisses me off. I think Peter O'Toole needs to be kicked in the ass for his involvement.
