The NEW Animaliment
This was a good one too, so here it is, back again.
We'll start it off with scary looking sea creatures: http://www.mbari.org/expeditions/Sea...es/May3203.jpg The Humboldt Squid grow to 11 feet long and have attacked people during feeding frenzies Vs. A moray Eel http://www.diveclub.org/gallery_phot...oray%20eel.jpg |
Definitely the eel!!!
|
I asked kpro if he could move this to the general forum.... i feel like a retard....
|
my sister (the one in the movie industry) was/is a dive master - in the Grand Caymans she took tourists to a reef where they could snorkle .. and watch her wrap a moray eel around her neck like a scarf and feed it. (they kind of got a bad rap in The Deep)
terrible eyesight - it would oftn miss the food she was feeding it and it would mistakenly bite her hand. (she has a few scars) i'll go with the squid .... no money on earth would get me to wrap one of those buggers around my neck. theys good eatin though |
I saw a thing on tv once where a guy got grabbed by 2 Humboldts. YThey dragged him down about 60 feet, at night, then let him go. They stole a couple of his pieces of equipment...
he said he was scared that they might bite him because he had seen one attack a thresher shark once and the squid bit a chunk the size of an orange out of it's head  |
i'd have to say the eel would win.
|
I would move it Vod. but I can't I'm not a mod of the forums in this section.
Anyway I say the eel:D |
cmon guys, the squid would tear that eel to pieces !!
eat him up like a big piece of spagetti - with eyes. |
eel
I've never seen one up close unless it was on my plate, but if I ever did the last thing I would do is wrap it around my neck. |

4-1 for the eel. I agree with urge, though. the squid would destroy that eel.
|
I would vote, but seeing that this is in the wrong forum I choose not to.

I'm just pissed in general. Work has been extremely busy and I can't get to post as much as I would like to.
|
there should be a thirfd option:
Squid, Eel, Newb the Bitch :D Just kidding. You bastard. |
In that case I'll pick newb the bitch.:D
lunch is over....back to work. |
Rent or buy the recent "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" Disney DVD, there is a documentary on the Humboldt Squid. And it depicts these things as positively dangerous and easily lethal!
There is also some amazing footage of these things swimming around in groups. These squid are SELF-LUMINOUS--they flash on and off rapidly while swimming, and they are BRIGHT AS HELL. You won't believe it until you see it. I had no idea these animals lit up, but on this video, you can see many of them doing it. I've seen glowing fish before, but this is too much. |
11 foot of squid gets my vote.

Wow, 4-3 for the eel, but it hasnt won yet.
I saw a thing recently where they were checking the claims that humboldts are super aggressive. it turns out, they are when they are being fished for. On a day to day basis, they are acytually very intelligent and calm, but when people start hooking tham and yanking them out of the water, they go psycho. They dont actually glow (although quite a few species do), they change from white to red very quickly, which in low light may as well be glowing. Oddly enough, Giant squid DO have bioluminescence (the same thing that makes fireflies glow) I did a paper on it in high school. |

I was just a little confused. |
Some great material on the Humboldt Squid can be found here--this was written by the researcher who was interviewed for the Disney documentary. It features an amazing photo of the effect I was describing:
http://diver.net/seahunt/fend/f_scottc.htm In my opinion, the squid would look cooler, and according to Mr. Cassell's observations, would probably get in at least a few licks on that ole eel... |
I gotta go for the eel
|
I could go for some Unagi eel sushi!
(I love that.) |

Didn't I see this in a Star Trek movie? I'll go with the tapeworm. |

|
Ummmmmmmmm
Is that really what a tapeworm looks like?!
ewie!!!! I'll just vote for it to move on to something cuter.... |
tapeworm
|
4-0 for the tapeworm....
So, you guys would rather have pubic lice than an intestinal worm... I'm not sure what to think of that.... |
I know we covered the squid, but I hadta post this photo, just to creep you out. Oooooh, but it's PRETTY! Okay, maybe it's not so creepy.....

if I knew I had an intestinal worm, I'd eat the most hottest curries and chillies I could stand, even if it ment taking a layer off of the inside of my mouth, just so I knew that fucker inside me would be in pain. |
just straighten out a rusty old hangar and go digging for the bastard :)
|
I don't know if we're supposed to vote off the one we'd rather not have, or allow it to be the winner???
I'm gonna go on the pictures only. I like the tapeworm, 'cos it looks like the thing from tremors. Kinda. NEXT |
