The Party

OK...I am having a horror movie party and i was wondering could i get some suggetions of REALLY scary movies?

furballothrills 01-23-2005 09:38 AM

uh... I'd say The Ring, but I dunno what you consider really scary.

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 09:41 AM

I actually saw the ring and liked it. I dont really consider it really scary but that movie was just down right creepy in my opinion but that a good suggestion and might actually be perfect to show at the party. Thanxs!

The_Return 01-23-2005 09:42 AM

To have a good horror movie party, you need to work up to a climax. I had a firly succesful on a few months back...

To start, an older, not too scary but very enjoybable horror classic : Pit and the Pendulum. Followed up by the 1999 remake of House on Haunted Hill. After that, the oriiginal Dawn of the Dead, and to cap off the night, the original TCM

Not sure if thats what you're looking for, but it worked well for me:cool:

furballothrills 01-23-2005 09:46 AM

Vamp's idea works, but it would take six hours or more.

this ain't horror but before you scare everyone with horror films make them laugh with Clerks. *in bad commercial voice* *smiles and teeth sparkle*

urgeok 01-23-2005 09:59 AM

too much quiet dialogue for a party (depending on the average attention span of the guests) I'd go straight for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back ..

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:00 AM

Heres another idea for you [I could do a better job if you said how many movies you want]

Start with a nice horror/comedy, Id recomend Creepshow, as it does both horror and comedy very well. Follow it up with the very suspensful, but not too scary Mothman Prophecies. Next up, The Bone Snatcher would make a good, little known choice. And for your Climax, Dog Soldiers is my pick.

Hope that helps!

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 10:02 AM

I am shooting for four movies!

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:02 AM

Ok, if you have Halloween in mind, try this:

Start out with the all time classic, Psycho. Followed by The Exorcist, then The Shining. Conclude your night with Halloween.

Angra 01-23-2005 10:03 AM

Or you can just settle with "Salems lot" ī79 (the long version). Thatīs 4 hours spend right there...;)

urgeok 01-23-2005 10:04 AM

too common .. try to get something more on the fringe .. make 'em piss their pants - or freak out ...

thats why dead alive is a good one .. or Evil Dead if they havent seen it ... keep the screen awash in blood :)

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:04 AM

You could do a night of classic Slashers:

Open with the 1st Friday the 13th. Followed by it's inspiration, Halloween. Next up the 1st Nightmare on Elm Street, and finish with the brutal Hellraiser.

I like that line-up alot considering i have read the shining and never seen halloween

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:08 AM

Taking from Urge's idea:

Start with Peter Jackson's The Frighteners. Follow with the 1st Evil Dead, then Bad Taste. Finishg the night with Dead Alive.

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 10:09 AM

BUT i still have two weeks until the party so any and all ideas are still wanted and appreciated.

Angra 01-23-2005 10:10 AM

Thereīs no END to the possibilities!! :D

arron wardlaw 01-23-2005 10:14 AM

start of with the thing then dawn of the dead followed by the ring . then get one of your freinds who isnt at the party to give the house dodgy phone calls. after that chitty chitty bang bang should suffice

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 10:17 AM

Yeah i was thinking of doing the whole ring then calls thing but me and some of the people who will be here already went to a party where they did that so i was hoping to do something more original but any prank ideas for during the movies would be good too.

Peter Jacksonīs "Brain Dead".

Fucking great!

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:18 AM

Dont mind me, Im just goona throw out ideas, because this is really fun:p

Ok, zombie type thing night:

Start with the comical Shaun of the Dead, Followed by the original Night of the Living Dead. Continue with 28 Days Later, and finish up with the original Dawn of the dead.

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 10:21 AM

Hey zombie type things are cool. Oh and if its fun to you just keep posting them because if i decide to have another party later which im sure i will i can come back!

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:23 AM

Heres one you'd enjoy, pranks included:

Start off with Motel Hell. Keep going with Night of the Living Dead, then either version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Finish with wichever version of TCM you didnt already use.

When your guest leave, have someone waiting outside with a chainsaw. Works wonders:cool:

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 10:25 AM

Oh that would be a good one!!!!

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:27 AM

If you ever feel the need for a lighthearted horror related party, try this:

Start with everryones favorite, Ghostbusters. Follow along with The Frighteners and Creepshow. Close the night with either version of The Little Shop of Horrors.

Katelan1089 01-23-2005 10:28 AM

this may be kinda frightening but i have honestly never seen ghostbusters

arron wardlaw 01-23-2005 10:29 AM

yeah braindead and bad taste are good shit. looking forward to king kong. original is my all time fave. when it comes to pranks anything unusual but real is effective. breaking glass and the thought of intruders fucks up party goers ambience. an explodin telly would be a good climax

The_Return 01-23-2005 10:31 AM

Why not a night of horror themed action movies sometime?

Commence with Van Helsing. Follow with Underworld, then The Mummy remake. Then on a much more horrorific note, close with Dog Soldiers.
