Favorite horror movie of ALL time
What is your number one choice as your absolute favorite horror movie (Classic and Modern)? Why?
Mine is, without Question, "The Exorcist" I saw the original release in the theater as a kid. At the time, it had the best special effects of any movie, It scared the shit out of anyone that saw it! People ran out of the theater puking and screaming. I realize that by todays standards and level of desensitization, it may not be considered scary now, but in the '70's it was. It is still considered by most to the the scariest movie of all time (I think parially due to the fact that it was based on a true story). Since it's initial release, I have seen it hundreds of times. I have the original release, the 25th anniverery release as well as the release of "The version you've never seen", I've read the book several times and at one time, even had a web site devoted to nothing but "The Exorcist." |

and it was more linear and sensible than any italian zombie film. lets face it .. with the italian films we make allowances .. they are crazy .. but thats part of the appeal. Dawn of the Dead is a great film all around .. it didnt have to get surreal and symbolic and nonsensical to build a great horror atmosphere. I love the movie myself .. top 4 or 5 .. but oddly - with each repeated viewing, Day is starting to edge out Dawn for me personally.. |
Ring - Japanese version
No film has scared me so much in my entire life. |

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original) or The Ring (Japanese Version). I love those movies although I haven't seen the Ring in a long time, I saw it when I was really young and it did scare the shit out of me! I saw TCM quite recently and I just loved it, classic! I haven't seen the new version of it yet.
