The Gate

Anyone remember this movie? What do you think about it. Its been forever since I've seen it, I remember thinking it was good but I was a kid

urgeok 12-19-2004 03:46 PM

i remember thinking it was ok .. (i think it has a canadian connection - made in canada ? - but i cant remember for sure)

some decent effects .. for younger folks - nothing too serious ..

Yeh I've been thinking of checking this one out. I've never seen it but I've been buying old VHS tapes for $2 or $3 and this ones popped up and I was thinking of getting it. If you check it out again let me know what its like. There was a sequel too if I remember correctly.

I too remember this movie and thought it was pretty sweet when I was younger. but I have a feeling if I were to watch it now, it'd be fun for nostalgia sake but that's about it. :) but for two bucks I'd buy it for shits and giggles

Elvis_Christ 12-19-2004 04:59 PM

I will then!

the dialogue leaves much to be desired, but once the haunting stuff takes full effect the movie starts kicking ass.

I too also loved this movie when i was young the part where angus dies still upsets me even though i know he comes back in the end.....I have had the VHS forever but i recently saw the DVD at Best buy for $5.99 and got it there.......there are no special features which sucks but o'well I also want to buy to second one but it's only available in Canada.

I've yet to see part 2 but I wanna buy the movie. And for that cheap. If I find it. It'll be in my movie collection in no time

allmykids 12-20-2004 03:57 PM

I saw both of them. They where OK!!

MichaelMyers 12-20-2004 04:26 PM

It was great. I haven't seen the sequel.

urgeok 12-21-2004 12:47 AM

the sequel is pretty damn bad....
(at least i thought so)

theshadow 12-21-2004 07:03 PM

We saw this when the kids were young. i bought it for amy last xmas. still love it. it's a guilty pleasure.:)

kpropain 12-22-2004 04:33 AM

Meh, it's mediocre.

Vodstok 12-22-2004 04:49 AM

I never saw it,but it goes into the "poster gave me nightmares as a kid" pile. A flash of a tv trailer or a creative poster was all it took to get me terrified as a kid. Overactive imagination.

The_Return 12-22-2004 06:38 PM

I almost bought the sequl awhile back, but I decied against it.

theshadow 12-22-2004 07:24 PM

oh yeah, i remember now seeing the sequel. it was all about that terry kid the friend from the 1st one.

The Gate

I got the DVD (The Gate). To me, it's more of a kids/family horror movie. Nothing to scary, a kid as a hero, etc... The Stop animation is alright, but in my opinion, it's not a horror movie for the adult.

Elvis_Christ 01-08-2005 09:57 PM

I brought this the other day and enjoyed it. It definatley is more of a kids film but there are still some pretty gory bits. It was weird seeing Stephen Doriff as a kid. This was well worth the $1.50 I paid for it on VHS.
