Dead & Buried

I checked this out over the weekend and was really impressed with it. I thought it was quite well written a few twists and turns I didn't pick would happen.
Here's a link about it:

Pretty good flick, love the ending and the part where the sheriff hits the guy with his truck and the arm is still attached to the grill.

I saw this film back in the 80's, I seem to remember liking it. Glad to hear it still holds up to modern viewers. I might just go buy the DVD

ChEEbA 12-18-2004 07:28 PM

I've seen it in my local EZYDVD store...
I was slightly interested when I saw it was by the same lot that did Alien.
Had no idea it was about the undead!
I'm gonna go grab it, it's over here for only $10AUD, which is cheap as hell...I read the synopsis, sounds like tha shit!

Elvis_Christ 12-18-2004 07:38 PM

$10! That's real good man you should definatley buy it!

urgeok 12-18-2004 09:05 PM

i remember reading the book when it came out and i was impressed - written by Chealsea Quinn Yarbro (who also wrote Nomads)

I always wanted to see the movie but i havent seen it here in canada.

looks like another job for Ebay ..

you must find it...

it's a great film. Try and find the Anchor Bay 2 disc version with the cardboard sleve over the regular dvd case.

EXTR3MIST 12-19-2004 02:20 PM

It's OK - notice the "hypo-in-the-eye" bit has finally been reinstated into the UK release among other death scenes after they were trimmed following the film's removal from the "nasties" list.

Nice ending.

Elvis_Christ 12-19-2004 04:02 PM

That scene was particulary nasty! Its a pity about the 'video nasty' scare of the 80s a lot of real good movies were cut or banned never to see the light of day again, uptight fuckers.

zwoti 12-20-2004 03:57 AM

very enjoyable film with a decent cast as well.

The_Return 12-20-2004 10:09 AM

Looks pretty good, not to mention awesome box art

urgeok 12-20-2004 11:00 AM

i may be mistaken but i think that was the cover art of the book as well .. which is weird in itself.

kpropain 12-20-2004 06:01 PM

I saw this in the 80's a very good film with a good story to it and good effects...One of Robert Englunds early films to.

I bought the Anchor Bay two disc version a few months ago and it was well worth it.:)

KRUGERKID13 12-20-2004 07:28 PM

Amazing movie with a terrific story and great special effects and an excellent ending

Think the Blue Underground 2 DVD set is actually better than the Anchor bay. Think it has a better transfer.

You can't seriously have a name like "dvdhorror"?

A friend of mine used to call himself "Kill Bill 2" in Soldier of Fortune Online.

Elvis_Christ 12-26-2004 06:42 PM

Fuck I need a DVD player......:(

EXTR3MIST 01-01-2005 11:19 AM

Ah.

Carry on!

urgeok 01-01-2005 03:03 PM

i found the Dead and Buried DVD double disc special Ed. yesterday.
And in the same store i found and bought :

Captain Kronos vampire hunter,
Shaun of the Dead
Fulchi's The Beyond (the collector's tin)

and i ordered a copy of Fearless Vampire Killers (Polanski)

that'll hold me for a couple of hours ..

urgeok 01-03-2005 05:34 AM

well, i watched dead and buried last night.

i'm glad i have it .. but i have to admit that i was a bit let down.
There were a couple of good shock scenes but the rest of it had the look and feel of a made for TV movie.

Plust i wasnt crazy about the acting ... of anyone in the film.
Also the voices seemed a bit off, like they didnt match. Maybe it was bad looping from an era where they didnt think people would notice, i dunno.

It's also the kind of horror where plot devices are inserted for the convenience of the scares. Most make absolutely no sense.
I'm not talking about the basic premise, but more incidentals.

I dont want to put in spoilers so if you've seen the movie and are wondering what i'm talking about PM me.

I guess i was expecting a tighter smarter film, as i remember the book being.

Anyway, i'm glad I saw it, i dont regert buying it .. i guess my expectations were set a little too high..

TheOmen 01-04-2005 07:53 PM

I bought Dead and Buried and watched it tonight. I liked it. It has a nice ending, average acting and some good 'jump out' scares. Overall, I would say it's a nice little niche title worth owning, especially for the $10 price tag at Best Buy.

urgeok 01-05-2005 01:25 AM

mines a double disc special ed. cost more than 10$ thats for sure .. i would have bought the cheaper one

TheOmen 01-05-2005 01:27 PM

I would have bought the double disc set. What's on the second disc? There are 3 commentaries on the single disc .

I watched it again today while listening to the writer/producer/actress commentary. The commentary was really good. Tomorrow I'll listen to the Director commentary. And I think I am actually really digging this movie now. Glad I bought it.
