Thanksgiving is over....

christmas is here!! BUYing a tree this weekend!

mUHAHAHHAHAAHAA!! :D :D. im so excited.

I_Still_Know! 11-26-2004 05:48 AM

We don't have Thanksgiving here. I kinda wish we did... sounds like fun. I also want to roast a turkey...they look massive... and tasty.

This next month is going to be a ball!! Party's and\or get togethers every weekend, Summer is only a couple of days away and people generally tend to be in a better mood around Christmas and New Years... I love it.

ShankS 11-26-2004 06:09 AM

I dont like big fat dry turkeys... you sit there chewing it all christmas day afternoon, and drink about 2 botttles of wine trying to wash it down... much prefer a nice moist chicken.

I_Still_Know! 11-26-2004 06:32 AM

Are they dry ShankS?? I have only seen them in movies and they always look sooo good. I guess I shouldn't be relying on the movies for an accurate representation of what a Turkey should look like.

Thats what we have on Christmas Day - Roast Chicken. Some times Roast Pork...or maybe a leg of lamb. Always with a leg of ham. Mmmm...ham!

Sometimes its will be just a seafood feast. They are a rarity, but always good on a hot Christmas day.

Haphazard 11-26-2004 06:34 AM

Fuck Christmas!

yeah, but it has flavourings and ingredients added.... no good getting a sweaty head up the ass, if it's just bread.

The STE 11-26-2004 07:15 AM

well, it's closer to the sage n' onion than the other

urgeok 11-26-2004 07:16 AM

seriously if its done right a turkey wont be dry .. but its not easy to do. I've had some pretty moist turkeys (and before the jokes fly, no - i didnt do the 'basting' myself)

if you want the best turky you'll ever taste .. try it on the bbq if you have a bigger grill with a rotisserie ..

its unbelievable ... you wouldnt need wine to wash that baby down ... I'd hate to see you using up all that beer space :)

The STE 11-26-2004 07:18 AM

best idea ever: take the mashed potatoes, the gravy, and the turkey and mix them all together, like in a bowl, and eat. It's friggen great

urgeok 11-26-2004 07:19 AM

takes too long, put it all in a blender and drink it with a straw !

we do cook it properly, actually take it out slightly earlier than the other roast stuff, and let it finish off cooking under it's own heat. in the hope it wont be as dry.

dont worry about beer space... I make exceptions at christmas, since people bring wine.

it's not getting old, retirement or being carted off to a senile old peoples home that bothers me..... it's the fear of being nagged all day when I cant escape to work.

urgeok 11-26-2004 08:11 AM

deep frying the turkey works great too, or so i've heard. i haven't tried it yet though, seems like too much of a hassle. plus all that deep fryage... i could just head over to KFC and get the same thing heh

and phhff beer space > turkey space heh ;p

urgeok 11-26-2004 09:01 AM

deep frying is supposed to be good but several people have beed admitted to the hospital in the attempt.

You need to boil an amount of oil big enough for a turkey .. like a drum ...

its like begging to be badly burned ..

Rotting Eye 11-26-2004 09:07 AM

oh i know. i'm guessing more than several people at that :P i mean you're only dealing with several gallons of hot oil... there's no chance something could go wrong!! heh

i've seen big fryers like that on sale at stores, but they're like $80 or so i think, then for all the oil, which just goes to waste after you fry the turkey anyway... eh. what's the point. maybe someday. plus to only be able to bust it out what? maybe twice a year? i dunno.

i like your idea though, unfortunately don't have a grill that large heh

thanksgiving is one of my least favorite holidays, so im not sad to se it go

Death By Jell-O 11-26-2004 10:45 AM

Deep fried turkey is great....Real tender and juicy.....and there's something about cooking a turkey in half an hour over a giant open flame.........

Gren the cake 11-26-2004 10:56 AM

my family always makes big ass prime rib roasts for thanksgiving, xmas, news years.. whatever

i dont think weve ever made a turkey. tradition whatever but that shit b dry

not that i know anything of it, havent had meat in 3 1/2 yearss. although the whole fried turkey thing looks like a good idea

but tooooo much fo a fuckin hassle

so. i guess, if i ate meat, id stick with the prime rib ;) WOOT!

Death By Jell-O 11-26-2004 10:58 AM

you cant deep fry a fuckin turkey... thats stupid lol, the outside would overcook before the inside gets done properly.

You can deep fry a turkey, I've seen it done.......Technically a "deep Fried" turkey is cooked in a big pressure cooker over a big, open, gas flame....Similar way they cook deep fried chicken in restaurants......

I wouldnt eat it, after it's been wallowing in fat for half an hour or longer. I bet when it's winched out the cooker it looks like the back end of a fat assed sumo wrestler.

FairyKorpes 11-26-2004 02:12 PM

My fav is turkey the day after. Making hot turkey sandwiches with gravy with the potatoes in the sandwich, gawd yum.

Death By Jell-O 11-26-2004 02:22 PM

My turkey soup is cooking as I type this......can't wait for it to get done.....Easiest way to dispose of a leftover turkey........

urgeok 11-26-2004 02:29 PM

i found a really fast way of getting rid of a old turkey carcas is to toss it into the back of a passing pickup truck.
