In older stuff, I think they were given more chance to live that bit longer, since the acting was better. |
I like the idea of women in horror.
Actually naked women in horror might be good......then maybe make it a little less scary.......maybe less than that.......then more naked women.......then some oil..........bit more.......more.......then make them wrestle................more.........tag team.......double team.............more and more women.............more wrestling...............and.......i'm spent........ .......................sorry, what was the question again???? |

what about Morticia from the adams

Women are represented as men are represented; just smart enough for the plot (hehe, "plot") to continue. Possibly smarter, since the survivor is always female. One could go quasi-Freudian and overanalyze it ("see, the weapon is phallic, and the big male serial killer penetrates the female victems..."), but that's all a bit much
|
the thing that really sucks is that the actresses doing the nudity get killed first, and the prissy ones survive.
It should be the other way around... viva la nudity ! |
Bitches.

I'd say there represented pritty fairly. There all given there chance, some fight, some dont. It's like real life kinda. Some are fighters some are not. Im pritty sure the director and or writter doesnt put them in the movie just to get "cut" out. exept for movies like snuff, last house ect. ect.

Critics of Horror movies always complain that in modern movies the women are just victims/sex objects that are there just to be killed off...but in most films of the last couple of decades it's always a woman who ends up defeating the monster. (Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th) yes, a lot of women get killed off, but so do a lot of male characters and no one complains about that. The women of modern horror are good role models.. they confront the evil and they win.
|
I agree. modern horror films portray women just as they do men and there are equal the amount of heroins and heros. In the older films there tended to be women dieing alot. or everyone dies. which I like. I like it when evil prevails.
|
There are more heroins than heroes, and we're in 2004.
|
why are we fuckin bothering with this thread? it was made on 11-23-2004 and they aint bothered to reply .......with only one post aswell.

the 80's horror movie became so fucking boring because ya knew that some fucked up fucking whore was gonna live. noes, halloween, the friday 13ths. fucking chucky movies. all horror movies that had a woman in it. was soooo fucken predictable. cause ya knew the shelia was gonna win. pfft fuck that ive never seen a woman knock a man out with one punch. what a load of bull fucken shit |
a bit straight-forward but you have a point, although There are other ways to defeat a villain than by a duel.

this is just a horror film gimmick to attempt to build up suspense by having the scrawniest meekest gal be the survivor.
Its not that its just a girl, its always the weakest appearing one. It appeals to how we love to identify with the underdog .. the one least likely to .... it has nothing to do with a reflection on the changing times in our society... its all about getting the audience more involved. If the last man standing is a big brute of a guy it deflates the ending ... we know these 'monsters' cant be beat with brawn .. so it takes brains and luck. We love to see the survivor make it out of an impossible situation. That provides a built in 'twist' at the end where the girl does somehow survive. In my books if you want a real twist .. kill off everyone. Monster goes home happy, audience goes home happy .. its a win-win situation. |
Even though "Basic Instinct" is not a horror movie(erotic thriller)..... I think Sharon Stones performans is the best female part......ever ?
