Ma's Diner

newb 11-17-2004 07:17 AM

I had a little banana nut crunch cereal on my break, so I'm not hungry anymore.....but just what is that floating on the lettuce?

That beer does look very nice.

seagulls do eat a lot of fish ... it depends on how much is absorbed into the bloodstream before passing through the digestive system.

which for a seagull - is seemingly instantanious.

Vodstok 11-17-2004 07:26 AM

it's actually "tzatziki" sauce (said just how it looks...), it's made with garlic, oregano and yogurt, and is incredibly good.

newb 11-17-2004 07:28 AM

Nothing like a nice seagull shit pate.

nope !

Cheeba V2.0 11-17-2004 07:34 AM

vod...sorry to have to point this out, but you know me and the food guru bit...
Either they got the tzatziki wrong, or you missed what the main ingredient apart from yhogurt should be : cucumber...

not to mention various versions also containing mint, dill, lemon juics and garlic. but...yknow those are if you wanna go fully authentic.

looks good anyway, we actually have a lowenbrau here, located right down the road from the "car in rain/tunnel" scene from the first matrix was filmed...fucking AWESOME place to eat/drink

Vodstok 11-17-2004 07:42 AM

Godammit... I didnt read it first, yes i did forget cucumber, but its not a big deal... its only 50% of the recipe:rolleyes:

Cheeba V2.0 11-17-2004 07:45 AM

Good stuff though, I regularly make it at home...SO good...awesome for dinner do's.

gren 11-18-2004 01:37 AM

hmmmm

this tzatziki intrigues me. im assuming i can dip whatever in it?

vegetables, crackers.....

<~vegetarian

so its just plain ol yogurt or yogurt cheeze? (yogurt strained, most of the water rid of)... looks just plain yogurt tho

Cheeba V2.0 11-18-2004 02:11 AM

In my experience, the best way to make it is with greek (acidophilous) yhogurt.
It's a fucking brilliant dip...like the greek version of raita (indian), similar, but different.
Give it a go, for sure.

Haunted 11-18-2004 02:23 AM

Fuck you guys, for shit'sake:D Now I have to go out and eat Indian food....

Chicken Tika Masala
Saag,
Aloo Nan
Lamb Vindaloo
Pakoras
Mango laasis
Aloo Mahter
etc etc etc etc:p

Vodstok 11-18-2004 03:52 AM

This is what they have on foodtv.com
Tzatziki Sauce:
1 medium cucumber, peeled, seeded and finely chopped
1 cup plain yogurt
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon lemon juice or white wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon minced garlic

In a medium bowl combine all the ingredients and chill for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to marry

I highly recommend draining the cucumber and yogurt overnight.

You can kick that up a notch by adding a little cayenne pepper!!! :D

urgeok 11-18-2004 04:57 AM

Cheeba V2.0 11-18-2004 06:51 AM

awesmoe urgeok...home made houmoss is the shit!
Takes a little while to prepare from scratch, but SO much better than the crap they sell pre-made.

Haunted, the spinach and potato dishes you mentioned are excellent...the indians really have vegetarian stuff down dont they? And yeah, you gotta love the laasi! I sometimes order an extra hot fish vindaloo from my local place, and a mekhan (butter) chicken...SO good...
But hey, if ever you want something real nice, try making one of the curries from scratch, I can help u out with what you need, and what to ad on top of the standars recipes to make 'em extra "authentic"...making one at home turns out like, on a whole other level.

and Vod, just from me...try a little finely chopped corriander (cillantro I think you guys call it?) in your Tzatziki Sauce...it's fresh.

- B

ps Vod...I think any pimping of the project would be justified among present company...

gren 11-18-2004 12:07 PM
