Christian Majority

I consider myself an agnostic, who acknowledges the idea that a god can exist but also acknowledges the fact that we will never have any proof....but lately i have felt stomped down and oppressed by the overwhelming white christian majority around me......

Just want to know what the stats are of horror...

urgeok 11-04-2004 07:41 AM

i dont believe there is a god anymore than i believe in ghosts fairies werewolves vampires leprechauns bigfoot nessie magic or any other paranormal folklore.

that aughta make me even more popular than i am now ...

bloodrayne 11-04-2004 07:43 AM

LOL..It seems that almost EVERYONE that I've been hangin' with lately is either Wiccan or Pagan...Hmm...Christians seem to be the MINORITY 'round here...

zwoti 11-04-2004 07:45 AM

atheist

urgeok 11-04-2004 07:45 AM

people are always looking for proof .. they say look at the miracle of life ..

i say look at a newspaper or the TV ... thats daily proof enough for me that there is no such thing.

And i know all the arguments because i was a blind faith christian as a child ..

Haunted 11-04-2004 07:49 AM

I am a filthy heathen Pagan infidel not to mention a horrible terrible Witch.

No...You are a very GOOD witch.....Well, I mean...Good at what you DO..Not like, good as in 'innocent'...lol ;)

FairyKorpes 11-04-2004 07:53 AM

I believe in God and although shitty things happen they happen for a reason. Even if there isn't what harm is there believeing and praying.

Haunted 11-04-2004 07:54 AM

You know it just goes to show that no matter what you believe in, as along as you're a decent person...who gives a poop.

yeah we get them in Toronto too .. they get a dentist to pop in a couple of fangs, sleep in the day and club all night listening to bauhaus etc ... then one day they walk in front of a car because they're convinced it wont hurt them.

(i'm not making this up)

Then again there are people who think they are jesus, napoleon and marilyn monroe ...

the imagination is a wonderful thing ... till it buys you a few years vacation in a padded hotel room.

By the way .. i really have to comment on the love and care that went into the Cradle of Filth poster !! :)

And I agree with you 100%, Haunted ;) :)

Wouldn't we have to probably all be agnostic in a way? No one knows. Some people have faith that God exists. Others believe he doesn't. Yet other worship Allah or The Devil. But no one really knows...

Just like no one can say for sure what happens when you die. The people with near death experiences probably catch a brief glimpse, but no one is certain how it is, once it's final.

These are the questions that can keep anyone up scratching their head at night. Or at least me....;)

urgeok 11-04-2004 08:06 AM

i've never had any faith in that near death experience deal .. who knows whats being concocted in the brain when its running out of oxygen (which is the solitary cause of death)

there could be dreams, memories, chemical fireworks, anything !

we all want to believe in something else .. unless you can come to grips with the fact that here and now is all its gonna be and your only crack at immortality is the memories you leave behind in others - especially your children.

Which is reason enough for me to strive to be a decent person ..
i dont need the fear of some eternal damnation to keep me in line.

Hmm...Ya know, Bwind...This got me thinking (ouch..lol)...Someone was joking about myths and fairy tales here...But, what connotates a myth or fairy tale?...Something or someone who is spoken of, but never seen or heard, a story that is passed down, told about, read about...Sounds kinda like God, huh?

I told Jonathan (The Vampire Freak in the picture back there) that he can't be a Vampire because he isn't immortal.....He said, "Christians aren't immortal either, yet their God is supposed to be"...Just something to ponder, I suppose...

allmykids 11-04-2004 08:07 AM

Ok one more reason for everyone to hate me. Yes I am a Christian. I think that even if the proof was in there face alot of people still would not belive. as far as why do the bad things happen I think it's called what goes around comes around!!

newb 11-04-2004 08:10 AM

I believe there must be a GOD. How else could you explain the growth of rice, hops and barley.

I was born and raised Catholic but I don't really practice any religion now.

urgeok 11-04-2004 08:10 AM

i sure as hell wouldnt hate someone for their religious convictions ..

urgeok 11-04-2004 08:12 AM

If there's 2 things i cant stand its people who have no tolerance for other people because of their beliefs or their place or origin.

and the Dutch.

hahahahaha :)

Hmm..But THAT would be Karma...and Karma is a predominantly Wiccan/Pagan belief...Wouldn't a Christian be more likely to say that it's 'Divine Retribution'?...Not, just a reaction to an action, but a vengeance with a purpose?...Know what I mean?

urgeok 11-04-2004 08:15 AM

i thought Karma was an eastern belief ..
part of the seven rings or whatever all that is ,, you build karma to exist on a higher plane each time you are reincarnated ..

or am i mixing things up here ?

well, its a big world and hundreds of different religions .. and within each religion there are dozens of sects/factions ...

hell there isnt 2 people who believe in exactly the same thing ..
Even 2 christians of the same denomination cant agree on every point ...

we're all in our own minorities - dont feel so bad :)
