I need color suggestions

I am getting ready to cut off a little more than half of my hair, and I am also considering dyeing it...BUT, I am getting conflicting ideas about what color to choose...Wicked Lady REALLY wants me to do burghundy (She's been begging me every day for 2 weeks)...But, someone else has suggested "fire engine red" or dark blue...lol...I don't THINK so...Anyway, I was thinking about just picking ONE of my natural colors, just so that it would stop changing all the time...My natural colors would be either red/brown (winter), red (fall), strawberry blonde (spring) or blonde (summer)...I decided to ask you guys for ideas, since you usually seem to have really good opinions...Evis suggested black, but I really think I'm too pale for that

Also, I need to know if there are any hair dyes that won't absolutely fry my hair...I'm a little concerned about that

So...Here is a picture...Tell me what you think would look best...

Fluff the Ho 10-23-2004 11:16 PM

hmm.. id stick with that one LOL

but if u must... wel shit i dont nnow. just tell you it will rinse out for the next 2 weeks.. so go darker than what you want.

oh. no fire engine red either. that would just be tacky.

any of the big brands, loreal for ex, wuld be good. look for moisturizers in it. Also, u got to use color treated shampoo for that shit, it will keep the color from stripping. the dirtier ur hair is to begin with the better, will make it stick better. id say dont wash for 1 day, 2-3 would be better (although nasty)

something i actually know something about

DraculaInDallas 10-23-2004 11:21 PM

Jet Black

Why dont you try some of that stuff from the TV, you know, the stuff they reckon highlights and enhances your natural tones to make them look shiny, or whatever they say, cos the woman always says "cos your worth it", so it must be good :D

.... hell what would I know, I'm a bloke and bald as a coot. :D

Ha...I had a feeling that you would be able to offer some advice...Unfortunately, I'm not really sure exactly what color that IS in that picture, it changes so much...It's getting a lot more red now, because it's fall...Hmm...Thanks for the brand ideas...I think that might be most important...I don't want to experiment with my hair...I would much rather get some input from people who have actually tried the stuff, and know something about whether it's good or bad...So, it looks like L'Oreal will be one to put on my 'possibilities' list...and DEFINITELY with moisturizers...But, "Dye it dirty?"...ewww...Well, like I said, I need all of the advice I can get, I know absolutely nothing about this stuff...OMG, Now they are suggesting really short and spiky, I could NEVER do that...lol...Hmm...Maybe I should just do auburn?...I think that's pretty close to what it is right about now...

FreddyC.Krueger 10-23-2004 11:31 PM

Yeah, Jet Black. Or better yet, black with crimson highlights. Now lets see... you eyes change color so it's hard to gt a hair color that realy brings out your eyes... hm. I like the black with red crimson highlights. That would be bitchin'. But I'm a male, what do I know about hair? Talk to RebelYell or Nine. Or any of the girls.

OH...What do you do about your eyebrows?...Mine are very light...If I go with a darker color, that wouldn't seem like it would work very well...Isn't it dangerous to dye your eyebrows, because they are so close to your eyes?

LOL...That's Shinobi's hair color right now...It looks really cool, but he's a lot darker than me...Of course, so is everyone else...lol

Thanks for the input Freddy, that was really sweet...I know that 'hair color', isn't really your thing :)

He said black, too...But he suggested that a long time ago...Hmm...I wish I could just try some different colors somehow, to see how they look...Maybe if I were better (or even halfway GOOD) with computers, I could change colors on a picture and see how it looks...I really don't want to screw this up...I'm already gonna feel weird about it being shorter...

[Rubs his bald, burnt head.] You got a point there. Never did have to worry about hair styles. Or color. Damn fire... damn parents of Springwood...

Anyway, I sure Arioch could help you here. He does dress in like a female and made LBM gay. Hehe. Poor LBM can't tell the differents from a guy pretending to be a girl from a real girl. Pity.
But he's the MAN to see abou HAIR. I guess, anyway. Never was real friends with Arioch. Not real friends with anyone here. Actually, you, Jay, and Fridaythe13thfan are the only ones I've really got in a PM with and know a little about... Wish I could talk to Cheeba, but I'm to lazy to learn his instant messengers... if he has one, that is.

Anywho, before I get to off-subject, I better leave. Best of luck with the hair, Clarice.

Ta-ta,
Freddy

ok first of all. you say cut off half. well where is half? cant really tell where your hair ends. so i dunno if its gonna be at your chin, shuodlers, or what. just saying cuz depending on length certain colors would look better than others.

ID say... go with a nice shade of auburn.. some shade of brown. a tad bit darker than what u have now. tthat will blend pretty well with any blond or red.

as for brand i wouldnt worry too much about it, just get any of the big ones. usually theres some celebrity on the box. those have been tested on tons of guineas and rabbits, very delicate fur/skin.

dye it dirty.. it says on the instructions dye it dirty. as in, dont wash it. most people only wash their hair once a day.. so as in, if u wash it, dont dye it right away. that will be a waste of $10 (u shuold only spend between $8-$10 on a box). u need the oils and junk 1) to protect ur hair 2) so the dye wil have something to stick onto. the dirtier,, the better... but obviously u may not be able to take 3 days withou washing hair. ive done it a couple times, good for hair but god damn that was nasty feeling. id say.. lets say you wash your hair at night. well before you wash it that night, dye it. THEN wash it. ill tell u though that shit will rinse out for 2 weeks. 2 fuckin weeks. so you hafto go darker than what u want in the end.

also, get a color treated hair shampoo. any regular will strip the color too quickly. Vo5, pantene would be good. as for conditioner, i wouldnt bother. Just get a leave in (cream leave in) that u put in after u shower. that works better than any shit u rinse out. but of course u dont hafto put it all on ur scalp, just on the long ends (if that makes any sense).. anyway, thats cuz u were worried abou frying ur hair.

ive done al kinds of BS to my hair, and it looks very good, smooth, shiny. which is hard to believe since 1) its bleached 2) a lot of that hair is 5-6 years old..

Wow...That's a lot of good information...Thanks

...As for length...This was 6 months ago (and my hair was darker), so it's about 4 inches longer right now...I'm thinking about shoulder length...Maybe...

yep. if u do do it, go to a salon and have them doi t (a trustd one).

i wouldnt bother tho. if u go with a darker brown they shuold match fine. but if u reallyw ant to darken em just use some loose powder on it when u put on make up.

DON'T DYE IT BLACK! The only way to get it out is to strip it or let it grow out. There are a million shades to choose from. I prefer the dark purple (plum). But i think the bright red would be really cool, imo.

Hmm..That sounds about right...I think...Maybe

Wicked Lady brought home some black hairspray...So, I think I'll cut my hair, then just spray it black and take pictures for everyone who suggested black...Just to see what it looks like, because I just don't think that it will work...I probably won't have the pictures till tomorrow, because I'm going out soon (and I probably won't be home till morning...lol;) )

I've been black, blonde, red, purple, highlights, brown. I've got the plum now, i just know from expirence what works and what doesn't. There are pics in my gallery that show what color it is, that was the dark, dark plum.

What i would suggest is to use a #2 (semi-perm)and start a bit darker or redder and step up from there. And that way, if it's not for you, it will wash out, well the red would be a bit harder, but it will get to a point where you can dye over it and it won't effect future dye's.
