Make Them Die Slowly
I just saw the movie "Make Them Die Slowly" and I fell in love with it. Who knew a horrible plot plus lots of human and animal mutilation would be so amusing? Thoughts anyone? and can anyone tell me if the dvd comes with the german language dubbed in?

Make Them Die Slowly is the alternative USA release title - Cannibal Ferox (Latin for Ferocious) is the more common European title.
This film is the most trashy and reckless of the Italian gut-munchers for sure, with none of the social commentary and power of Cannibal Holocaust (though it does attempt to ape its' "who are the real cannibals?" exploitative thought train). Finding the real animal mutilation amusing is rather disturbing - though these scenes give the harsher cannibal movies an undeniable edge, they are thoroughly reprehensible and impossible to defend. From the main contenders, Ferox has the most realistic "cock-slicing" scene though - dished out to the oft-abused John Morghen! |
I have never heard of it. But I will have to check it out!!

One of the more famous Cannibal flicks yet like other members mentioned earlier its not nearly one of the best ranks with Eaten Alive as one of the bottem feeders in the cannibal genre!
And really there isn't nothing funny about this flick at all well besides some of the shoddy special gore effects! Proteus |

Was a bit of a theme with Italian exploitation films of that era, particularly the Cannibal genre. Check out Cannibal Holocaust/Cannibal Holocaust 2 for similar stuff.

On the downside though, Mr. Radice now speaks ill of his exploitation past... and is sometimes clearly uncomfortable and embarrassed talking about some of his best movies. SISTINAS: the animal killings range from ritual mutilation (where the filmmakers exploit allegedly traditional practices from the "tribes/cannibals") to "natural" conflicts between two spieces (where in fact the unfortunate animals have been shoved together to encourage a fight to the death) - Cannibal Holocaust also features the abhorrent shooting of a pig by one of the stars of the film, and the shocking destruction of a helpless giant turtle. However repulsive, these sequences do up the ante of intensity of these films and make the viewer question what other carnage they are watching "might be real"... |
