Horror saves lives
Forgive the self publicity, but we're trying to raise money for a good cause. Mike McBride, who started this thing off, is trying to find a meaningful way for himself to say goodbye to his dad who is dying of cancer. The other three of us have all been touched by this disease in some way. This is our way of paying something back
Four authors (Michael McBride [Species; The Legacy], William Meikle [Island Life, Watchers Trilogy], Steve Zinger [The Sab; Ray McMickle and the Kentucky Vampire Clan], and Karen Koehler [Slayer series; Scarabus]) will bring you a chapter a week of a new novel, spread out over fourteen consecutive weeks. The fiction is free (that's four whole novels!), but we will be sponsored by the American Cancer Society as a fund-raising project to further cancer awareness and research funding, so donations would be appreciated! The novels are as follows: BLOODSPAWN by Michael McBride WATCHERS: THE COMING OF THE KING by William Meikle THE SAB by Steve Zinger SHREDDER: IRON ANGEL by Karen Koehler Visit www.topica.com/f/v.html?900079433.900025797 to sign up for the serialization. Also be sure to sign up for the discussion group at groups.yahoo.com/group/TheFourHorsemenE-serial where you can discuss the books and their authors. My dad died of cancer, so I'm all for supporting the ACS. This is a good deal you folks have working.
|
Good luck :) Im glad to see other authors out there doing serials on the web. i have my own, but i wont pimp it on your post.
Please forgive anyone who bashes the advertising, as this is obviously not the usual bullshit we get here. by the "Watchers" trilogy, do youmeant the movies based on Dean Koontz's stories? I still feel for him, but those were not good. |
Watchers
Nope. I have written a trilogy called Watchers. Nowt to do with Koontz :)
|
Tis a very noble cause. I lost both my parents to cancer and will support this endeavor.

I dont know anyone who has had full blown cancer (although my grandfather was extremely sick with colon polyps a few years back), and i dont want to, so you have my backing :) |
I'm In TOO!!! I also lost family to canser.
I wish you Good luck!! ;) |
Good to see Cancer Research getting some backing from authors.... good way to raise more awareness amongst the book reading and general population... I back it.
btw, one of my Brothers works in Medical Research and is currently working on new Cancer Treatments, he was explaining some of the new developments and techniques, they are developing to enable doctors to be able to diagnose cancer much earlier, and to be able to track the spread of the disease much quicker, to aid earlier removal and recovery. It's very technical and I can’t really go into too much about it here, but I was pretty amazed at what can be done today and what developments we will see in cancer treatment. |
This is a very nice thing to do !
I've lost family to cancer as well. I'll donate what I can. Might not be much, but if everyone went to donate what they thought wasn't much it would add up. This is a great time to do this as well, this being breast cancer awareness month- Every one needs to be aware. My condolances, as well, to his father. |
Here's an interesting line that was in the confirmation e-mail I received:
"Now if you just can't wait a minute longer and want to pass along a donation to fight cancer, an indiscriminant disease that savagely attacks all humanity without discrimination:" Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for supporting cancer awareness ... but I hope this isn't a hint of the type of fiction we are about to receive. "An indiscriminant disease that attacks without discrimination"?? Talk about redundant. |

I wasn't joking. He'd said he was a teacher.. I will be going back to school soon to be an English teacher.
Now I feel bad too. I'm sorry I derailed a serious thread. |
Very good, meaningful cause that is beneficial to the world and has a lot of meaning. Good luck to you all
hows THAT for redundant? no for real, i think this is a good idea. put hat money to good use B. |
Thanks for all the support folks....much appreciated
|
instead of rasing money to give to ACS. why don't you raise money and get a class action going against the big drug companies forcing them to release all the cures they have found but wont release?
|
Have signed up. Waitin for the e-mail back.

Who do you think is resoponsible for lining the pockets of Mr Bush and Mr Blair?? The bloody pharmaceutical companies. Thats who. Together with these two 'puppets', they can control world sales of all pharmaceuticals. Good quote bout the NHS: 'An expensive patient is one who is ill'. Pisses me off bout alternative thaerapies as well. My mum only just died of cancer (thats why I recently went mental on here when someone said somethin like.....'your mom this.....etc etc') and we wanted to send her out to Mexico to receive this therapy that has a very good success rate. After months of the GPs convincing her not to go....we found it was too late. The bastards wont give us a chance. You cant fight that in this day and age. Px |
