Distressing news....(not really important)

Ihave a sad thing to report. This is a direct quote from American McGee's website:

"Oz Film
Oz film rights have been optioned by Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney Films. Development has begun. No further info is available at this time."

i found it on his FAQ last night:
http://www.americanmcgee.com/blosxom.cgi/faq/

How much does that suck? We finally get a shot at a movie that might be like the game Alice, and its going to be made by Herry Bruckheimer and Disney?!?!

Just sad.....

Could've been one of the creepiest movies of all time. Sad indeed.

The whole lookk and feel they made with alice just begs for gore... I am not a huge gore fan, but if it is called for, it needs to be there.

plus, it is supposed to be DARK. Alice was a tragic game, and i am sure Oz will be too. A movie made from them should be too.

Another great movie concept thrown away......Disney already HAS the definitive Alice movie....damn.....fucking conglomorate!!

Fluff the Ho 10-12-2004 04:15 PM

id rather it have a neato story with good effects, than just a buncha gore

that just MO

I guess it depends on the procuction team in question, but it's not as though it's not in Disney to churn out decent films...they HAVE put out some films I like...
The black cauldron
Spy Kids
Fantasia
Return to Oz
Holes
Pinocchio
Hocus pocus
Pirates Of The Caribbean
Legend of sleepy hollow
James and the giant peach
Nightmare before christmas

I dunno about Jerry tho...I suppose he's done a few decent shows, but yeah, this pretty much says the film is never gonna be as dark as it could/should be.

Nice :)

I would also rather have agood story with no gore, but given the combo here.....I just dont have high hopes. Dark, hardcore and edgy are what the movie shjould be, abndi just dont see that happening.

granted, the guy who made Mouse Hunt also made The Ring, but bruckheimer's best stuff is done when he gets a good director (michael bay is fine, but bruckheimer/bay movies are exciting but empty). He used Ridley Scott for Blackhawk Down, and that was incredible. Who knows, maybe burton will siogn on to direct. that could save it, bbecause even if it was pg-13, he would still make it watchable.

I just hate the pg-13 movement. it is turning movies into even worse homogenized shit than they were before. I decided long ago that if i could help it, anything i wrote would be R, if for no other reason, it allows creative freedom. if the story turned out pg-13 with no modification, so be it, but i rarely use subject matter that allows for it.

Coyote Ugly?

I never said they sucked, just that they are shallow.

He did make Beverly Hills cop though....

DaBroMain 10-13-2004 04:07 AM

ooooof i fucking forgot about coyote ugly (retched movie)

Fluff the Ho 10-13-2004 09:29 AM

beofre i wouldnt even watch a movie unless it were R, but nowadays what makes a movie R? compltetely tasteless nudity (as in, doesnt even fit with the story) WAYYYY too much gore/violence and fuck shit fuck fuck every 2 1/2 seconds. basically, just COMPLETELY over done. kinda like freshmen year of HS, when ur trying to be big and bad and instead u look like a dumbass.

i have good hopes for this movie. perhaps it wont be as dark as u like but im sure the story will be neat. im wondering what the animation will be like?
