Good news and Bad news.....
 

Good news is, my birthday is coming up....its the 11th next monday.....

The bad news i wont be here to celebrate it probabaly.....my grandfather was just diagnosed with Lung cancer in BOTH lungs.....hes in the hospital and we dont yet know if its operable...

I know a few people already know about this.....but i dont know...im not sure how long i might be gone (probably the weekend at most).....but incase my moderation gets called out (yet again) because of my absense.....you guys know why.....thnx...

Thats really awful Arioch, I hope your grandfather comes out of it with not much more than a couple of scars and the memory, even if it is pretty bad.

Also I hope YOU are ok, 'cause yeah its HIS body and all but the effect can be pretty intense on other people... Anyways I hope you and him come out of it ok, and happy birthday for the 11th.

Its been like 64 years they have been together.....thats unimaginable to me.....that level of integration, its like loosing half of yourself.....

but at least u can say he's lived a pretty long life, its just some peoples time to go. but good thing u get to spend time seeing him, my grandparents r in the philippines and i probably wont see them until they die. and even then, i aint flyin over there for a fuckin funeral.

How strange. Your birthday present may be a death in the family. A unwanted and unforgetable gift. Lets all hope that doesn't happen. When you open up that box that birthday morning, lets prey whats in it is hope and a miracle. I wish only the best for ye both. But remember this: you never know how much you have untill it's gone. And sorry to say, but Fluff is right. The other seems to pass off just a while after the first. I guest they just can't bare the lost of such a loved one, and just want to be with them so badly they just allow themself to fade away...

Sorry to hear, heres wishing all the best and will say a prayer for him.

I too, am sorry for your troubles. I've been in your situation on a couple of occasions and it ain't easy.
As long as your grandmother knows she has people around who care and will be there for her will help.And it sounds like she does.

Well he's going in tomorrow to see if the cancer is operable or not....ill keep you guys updated...

But I can tell that you are the more trustful and more respectful type of person to be friends with. A rare find these days.

I hope his cancer is operable. But I am completely optimistic
but all this. I don't see why fate would make such a terrible tear in your life on such a occasion as your birthday. My wishes wishes go with you and your dear grandfather. I'm sure he's going to be just fine. He'll be out of that hospital at home, telling those 'back in the day' storys in no time.

At the risk of sounding redundant, but because i just found out...

The cancer is indeed Malignant....but it hasnt spread to his brain or his spinal cord yet....which is good.....if it hasnt hit his lymph nodes then they can probably operate and he will be ok.....

sorry to hear it arioch, lost my father and several aunts and uncles to the big c. the most important thing is to spend as much time as possible with him and cherish it. try to keep his spirit up and keep him fighting. the will to live is everything. when the doctors found it in my fathers lungs, they said he wouldnt live 2 months, but he wouldnt accept it. he fought it and ended up living another three years. doctors aren't always right.

Man Arioch thats a bummer. My friends grandpa just passed away a while back to Lung Cancer. But Happy Birthday. Just try celebrating it before or after you go to see him..

UPDATE:

They went in and did a biopsy on his lymph nodes and all was clean (whew) then yesterday, they went in and removed the tumor in his lung (golf ball sized) and removed any questionable tissue in that lung.....

All is looking good and they say he should be out of ICU in 3 days or so.....So its really Goodnews and Goodnews now......

Thnx for all the support guys....i really think you all had an impact on us.....i went and saw him this weekend...he had just gotten out of surgery....

All the cancer is gone (knock on wood) and he has about 35% lung capacity in the right lung and about 65% in the left....

But hes looking really good....and should be out of ICU by monday....and its now a matter of hours till my birthday YIPPIE!!!!

just a note one of my best friends, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer let me think... it was her freshmen year of college. they gave her till that december to live.

well... shes in her 4th year of college now and shes still here. shes even walkin around and stuff. gets chemo and MRIs and stuff, but doing well!! just somethin to think about....

and happy bday even tho i missed it. Hey, whats that in ur ava? evangelion is my guess.. looks tite tho
