Ichi the Killer. Or I tried to, but for some reason I couldn't stand it. The violence was ridiculous and over the top, which I usually don't have a problem with at all, but for some reason it irked me. I would like other people's opinions on this film though because it has been recommended to me several times. So any thoughts? Am I missing something?

Maybe you just donīt like cruel movies and didnīt quite catch the very, very, very dark humor. I can sertainly understand why many people wouldnīt like "Ichi the killer".

Or maybe you just didnīt like it because our hero is a sick, pathetic masturbater. ;) :D

LOL....I didn't watch all of it honestly. But it seemed like the parts I watched were full of sick abuses against women. On the other hand, it was so completely ridiculous that is was hard to take seriously. So I am not sure why it bothered me so much.

But there was one scene that I caught I find amusing, so the humor wasn't completely lost on me.

True. I didnīt like that either.

Is it just me or does alot of japanese movies contain abuses against women? It must turn them on or something? Must be a japanese thing?

I actually saw a documentary once, about a japanese porn director who said something like "All japanese mens biggest sexual fantasy is to rape a schoolgirl". Makes you think doesnīt it..

Well, I'm glad that I am not the only one.

I haven't seen many Japanese films, but in the ones I have seen, it usually seems that women are always something to be feared or yes, abused in some horrific matter (or both). But I haven't seen enough of them to make an overall judgement.

I had high expectation for this one because of things heard here and it lived up to 'em pretty well.

bloodrayne 07-13-2005 01:14 AM

Amityville remake...Not too bad...But, I really like Ryan Reynolds, too...He was awesome in 'Boltneck'

Sin City...Dustin's idea...I guess it was okay...It was a little confusing, probably because I wasn't paying a lot of attention to it really...I like the part with the cannibal the most...I DID pay attention to THAT part;) :)

I found it a little boring....but I'm no big Tarantino fan...to much misplaced dialog

definitely NOT!!!

My favorite Disneys would be "Toy story 1 & 2" and "Finding Nemo". They crack me up. :)

it was a great movie .. monsters inc is a bit better but they are definately my 2 favorite .. followed by the Toy Stories.

Nemo was beautiful to look at but pretty ho-hum story wise.

When i watch a cartoon movie i donīt care much about the story. Itīs always the humor thatīs in my focus. "The incredibles" failed at that point and i therefore found it hard to keep attention.

I thought the humor in "Finding nemo" was simply hilarious and the most imaginative iīve seen in a Disney so far. Like the surfer dude turtles, the ME-seagulls and the vegetarian sharks. :)

If we're talking overall, I'm going with Aladdin.

"A Whole New World" alone makes that movie...

i dont think humor can work without a story ..
one supports the other.
And the more clever the story - the better the humor.

i'm very picky about kids movies ... and books as well ..

the best ones are always the smartest ones ..
and dont be fooled into thinking the kids dont notice - they do ..

feral cat 07-13-2005 08:45 PM

Skinned Deep ... well Fangoria dedicated 5 pages to it a while ago so I figured it would be worth watching ... it's not

Variety is the spice of life. That said, here are the last 3 movies I watched:

Million Dollar Baby- Ive been wanting to see this since it was in theatres, and it was worth the wait. Outstanding film.

The Lone Ranger [2003 version] - Made for TV Lone Ranger flick starring Chad Micheal Murray. Need I say more? Honestly though, it was better than you'd expect.

Stone Cold- 2005 made-for-TV movie based on the Robert Parker novel. I really need to start reading this guys books, they make great movies/TV shows. Good, if somewhat formulatic, murder-mystery.

bloodrayne 07-14-2005 05:27 AM

House Of Wax remake...

I didn't really like this one as much as I thought I was going to...

I mean, it was okay...But, it just REALLY felt like it was missing something somehow...

Of course...The part where Paris Hilton got hers...That was pretty good...lol.....Don't want to elaborate on that one, in case someone hasn't seen the movie yet:)

BH14 07-14-2005 08:25 AM

Million Dollar Baby.... Very good movie... I would give it an 9/10. 3 great performances but I actually enjoyed "The Machinist" more so that would have been my favorite movie of the year.

Only 3?

I thought most of the cast ws pretty outstanding...some of the background characters espically. Danger was one heck of a great character...comic relief, and so much more.

BH14 07-14-2005 09:55 AM

I meant the big 3 actors. However, i felt like something was missing from this movie...
