I'm always on the lookout for a bargain, and I also like gambling a little on some cheap-ass horror flick I haven't seen. Today's finds were Bill Castle's MR. SARDONICUS ($2) and ZOMBIEZ ($1.20).

Sardonicus I haven't seen in fifteen years, but I like most of Castle's stuff. This was also a full-on DVD with extras, so good for the price.

Zombiez I just watched, and you know...I don't want to praise it more than it deserves, because that would be wrong. However, they did "keep it moving" for most of its running time, and I've seen many cheeseball digital features do A LOT worse. It's been trashed by a lot of people, perhaps to a degree deservedly. But I have to give it points for keeping a momentum going. And at a buck twenty, I certainly feel I got my money's worth!

Mask
The Mummy (remake)
The Mummy Returns
Mary Poppins
Godzilla VS Megalon
Maximum Overdrive

I found Mermaid in a Manhole, but I didn't feel like spending twenty bucks on it when I already had so much visual media. So I bought a CD instead.
I feel like such a rebel:)

crabapple 04-14-2007 06:37 PM

Mary Poppins
Godzilla VS Megalon
Maximum Overdrive

Great stuff! good taste in movies

Miss Olivia 04-15-2007 09:46 AM

I'm upset!
I opened Godzilla vs Megalon only to find Godzilla vs Mothra.
I wanted MEGALON, damnit.
Mothra's cool, but there isn't any Jet Jaguar:mad:

Crabapple, have you seen Rock N Roll Nightmare 2 yet?
I heard John Mikl Thor is like three hundred pounds in it, and gets attacked by a single strand of swedish ivy:)

Picked up Vio-lence: Blood and Dirt.

crabapple 04-15-2007 11:36 AM

That sucks about Godzilla vs Megalon. That's a hard film to find, and Godzilla vs. Mothra is a good movie but you can get it all over the place.

I have heard that Intercessor: Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare 2 REALLY SUCKS and it's not a "good bad" movie but just a "boring as hell" movie. But this is not surprising because the first one was made in the 80's and the second one was made recently, by a totally different group of people. I actually have no interest in seeing that one.

People who have seen the first "Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare" KNOW that what happens in the final scene couldn't be duplicated or redone. That kind of lightning cannot be captured in a bottle. The first film is probably the finest motion picture ever made, by anyone.

chaibill 04-15-2007 12:27 PM

the mummy remake and the mumy returns are a little shitty dont you think?

LOL the final scene in Rock N Roll Nightmare will NEVER be duplicated, I agree.
It would never be the same.:p
Still, it would be funny to check it out just for a puffy middle aged John Mikl Thor.

The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are good for what they are, which is mindless entertainment. I don't like to have to think about EVERYTHING I watch too much.....and honestly, I have so many movies I'm happy to pick up things I don't have, even if they're not the best in cinema.

crabapple 04-16-2007 07:39 AM

I'll tell ya what...you buy it, and if you think it's too scary, send it to me and I'll give it a spin.

!

Miss Olivia 04-16-2007 09:35 AM

LOL sounds like a plan to me:)

Picked up Jaws 2 for 98 cents last night.
