The Unholy -- 6.5/10; Anti-Christian weirdness abounds. The climax features the most awkward monster scene of all time. Kudos for that.

DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978). Loved NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and when this came to the Chicago area around April 1979, tried five different theatres, but no one under 18 was allowed and even checking ID's. Back in those days, if you missed a film, it was just hard luck. It might come back around or get on TV butchered for commercials.
A couple of years later, saw it was playing nearby and after getting out of work a little early and hauling ass to the theatre, finally got to see it. Astounded at its audacity and over the top nature and started hitting the Midnight movies with different people frequently. 30 plus years later, still think it's an awesome film that works so well. For a raving zombie geek like myself, the Anchor Bay Four Pack is the only way to go. ***** |

House IV. Bad. 4/10. I even vaguely remember as a kid being unimpressed with it. Very little theme is used from the previous films. Very little happens. Very little monsters.

The Uncanny -- 7/10; How could any horror fan not enjoy watching Donald Pleasance chase after a cat, with a halberd?
|
The Silent Scream -- 5/10; This anti-abortion propaganda had its share of horror highlights.

'Fore the Cock Crows -- 8.5/10; A real chiller, and from Australian TV no less. It pays to dig.
|
Spectre -- 4.5/10
Snowbeast -- 1/10 |
|
|
Dawn of the Mummy -- 5/10
|
The Chilling -- 7/10; Has a nice ROTLD vibe.
|
Grotesque -- 3.5/10
|
Edge of the Axe -- 6/10; This deserves a proper disc release. Christ, it's been long enough, and the demand is there.
|
The Spell -- 2.5/10; Carrie ultra-lite.
|
Hide and Go Shriek -- 3.5/10; A tepid slasher with a couple memorable kills.
|
The Horror Show aka House III(nothing to do with the house series though).
Slow, boring, etc. Not much happens. Pass. |
Transylvania Twist -- 6/10; All the 80s horror icons take it on the chin.
|
Out of the Dark -- 7/10; Wish it had a better ending. Still, worth a look.
|
Satan Be Thy Name -- 6.5/10; The hilariously bad poster does no justice to this above-average slice of Satanic mumbo jumbo.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, 1984. 7/10

The Driller Killer (1979) 7/10 - always a fun watch
Slumber Party Massacre (1982) 8.5/10 - this one holds a dear placeinmy my heart for one of the first horrors I ever watched, I always give it a rewatch when I feel like it. |
F13 7 -- 7/10

THE SEVERED ARM (1973). While living in Chicago, my brother and I caught this mean spirited flick several times, enjoying the audaciousness of it and how the characters procrastinate so much trying to get out of the deep shit they're in. And you have to love the Motel 6 interiors they used. A true guilty pleasure. ***

ETERNAL EVIL AKA THE BLUE MAN 1985
Wow. Found this to be a little treat. Karen Black with those sumptuous cross-eyed Siamese cat eyes. An eerie tale of astral projection used to destroy the life of an ad exec and his young family. |
DEMONS 1985
Random people are offered free tickets to a movie at an old movie theatre. The film is about demons being awakened. But the demons aren't just on the big screen! Dario Argento always comes through with the soundtracks. |
|
Stephen King's The Night Flier
|
Sapphic Evil -- 6.5/10; I expected more nudity.
|
DEMONS 2 1986
Had all my favorite elements. This time the demons have invaded an apartment building. |
Don't Look in the Basement -- 1.5/10; Dull. The end credits place the actors' names on pics of their dead characters. More movies should do that.
|
ZOMBIE 4 AFTER DEATH 1989
Italian zombie/voodoo flick. A young woman unwittingly returns to an island where years ago her parents were slaughtered by zombies. My kind of fun. |
ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS AKA ZOMBIES 2 1979
This just rocked for me. I love this type of film. 4 people shore up on a mysterious island due to boat trouble. They meet a doctor who is single-handedly fighting a zombie epidemic. |
Rolling Vengeance (1987)
http://mla-s2-p.mlstatic.com/rolling...987_3317-O.jpg Easily top 10 in the 80's Grindhouse Monstertruck Revenge genre. Ned Beaty's hair in this deserved it's own sequel. |
