I watched Friday the 13th Part III, amazingly, for the first time. Much better than I expected, although I never knew it was directed by the same guy who did part 2.

"Murder By Death" 9/10
Still hilarious. |
SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE PART 2 1987
Crystal Bernard "stars" as a teenage girl re-traumatized by a killer from her past. It does indeed take place at a sleepover at a "condo" owned by a band member's father. I'm going to have to watch SPM part 1 to see the killer's back story (if there is one...) Nothing really great about it except that I enjoyed it. 6 corndogs out of 10 ::stick out tongue:: |
SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE 1982
Basically watched this one to try and get a back story for the sequel ^^. Not bad but I liked the second one better. 4 corndogs out of 10 ::stick out tongue:: |

THE BOOGEYMAN 1980
A young brother and sister murder their slutty mother's boyfriend after being mistreated by him. 20 years later, we find out how this has impacted their lives. Very dull and seems to borrow a lot from other films... Barely 2 corndogs out of 10 ::sad:: |
SCARS OF DRACULA 1970
A Hammer production starring Christopher Lee. Dracula sets his sights on the beautiful fiancee of a young man searching for his lost brother. Darkly pleasurable. |
CAPTAIN KRONOS VAMPIRE HUNTER 1974
Charming tale of a swashbuckling vampire killer brought in to save the village maidens, who are all mysteriously being "aged" to death. |
DUEL(1971)-Although it has that early 70's TV movie look, this is a very suspenseful and scary flick about the dangers of passing a truck and the driver of said truck deciding to play Cat and Mouse. Good performance by Dennis Weaver in an almost one man show and audacious Steven Speilberg debut. ****

Great movie. It was released theatrically in Europe. |
NEXT OF KIN 1982
I just finished watching this on YouTube. A great horror film from Australia. A young woman's mother has died and she tries to run the nursing home her mother owned. Well, its more to clear up her estate, but before she knows it, all manner of spooky things start happening. The ending is bloody fantastic and worth waiting for because the pacing is a little slow. |
Misery
Misery, by Stephen King. That's actually one of my favorite movies

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home 5/10 A little too syrupy sentimental, quaint, slow & unchallenging for me. Concepts were fine. Just felt more like a long car trip with family than any kind of exciting or challenging sci-fi/fantasy. I think you'd like it as much as mom would. Kind of a family film. Serpico 5/10 I had high expectations for Serpico. I would hazard to guess much of it's accolades comes from the (near) universal desire to see police selflessly stand against corruption. It's not a film you want to be critical of; you want everyone to support Serpicos. There's a dramatization of his life, along with showing the pertinent going-ons; but compared to other films of this type (All the Presidents Men, Erin Brockovich, etc), I can't say this was particularly entertaining. Characters all seemed one-dimensional and uncompelling. I wasn't even sure I came away really knowing why Serpico did what he did. |
The 2 Demons films - fun gore stuff. Totally no sense is made in either of these films but they are both a good ride..

I had to split up my reviews from the Halloween month. It was too long. I guess I can put this one here:
Prom Night (Original) - This isn't the best horror movie but it does make the remake look even worse. From what I remember the remake didn't even follow the story of the original. There was no twist in the remake. And the twist is one of the best parts of the movie. I think it's more revenge mystery movie with slasher elements. I watched the trailer afterwards and I love the last tag line "if you're not back by midnight, you won't be coming home." The dance scene with Jamie Lee Curtis is great. The whole movie shows her acting ability as it was just about right after Halloween. And she's a completely different character here. Really cute. I like how they used the dance scene music again for the climax too. It's crazy with all that's going on. I think I watched a bad version though as some scenes were really dark and I could barely see what was happening. But this is a good movie to check out. |

The gate. It was on tv last night. Very cheesy, but I love it.

Splatter University
Cheesy 80s awesomeness. |
Dream a Little Dream - 1989
::embarrassment:: What can I say, I grew up with the two Coreys (had a major crush on Haim). B- |
Werewolf Woman (1976)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...%28film%29.jpg Tons of nudity partially makes up for the lack of lycanthropes in his Italian Horror. Only wolf on view is the opening dream sequence. Brought to us by the wonderful gentle man who made 'Deported Women of the SS Special Section' |

The Last Wave, 1977. 8/10
http://softriot.com/wp-content/uploa...03/gulpili.jpg This is an excellent moody psychological thriller about premonitions set in a very eerie environment that reflects Chamberlain's mental status. Brilliant! |

Did you at any point feel he either was an alien or had been abducted when he was little? |
[QUOTE=The Bloofer Lady;983412]Did end up watching this. While I won't pretend to understand all of it, I really enjoyed the claustrophobic feel to it. SPOILER QUESTION AHEAD
No I didn't. His dreams were premonitions, and he was dreaming of disaster. There was even a thought he was falling into insanity...at the end was that really the last wave to destroy Sydney?? I'm not sure why he had a connection with Aborigines' culture.. This is a film you can view a few times and get your different ideas. |
ROCK AND ROLL HIGH SCHOOL (1979). Definitely a cult movie and hasn't aged all that well, but some funny moments and The Ramones too! ***
Reason I put this in a horror forum was all the names I noticed in the credits and during the interviews/commentaries: Roger Corman- Producer. Responsible for SO MANY horror/exploitation films Joe Dante-writer. THE HOWLING, PIRAHNA, MATINEE, GREMLINS ROB BOTTIN-Giant Mouse/Mrs. Mouse. THE THING, THE HOWLING. Dean Cundey-Cinematographer. HALLOWEEN, THE FOG, THE THING John Buechler-Costume design. FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART 6, GHOULIES. James Cameron-Production Asst. THE TERMINATOE, ALIENS, T2, TITANIC Gale Anne Hurd-Prouction Asst.- THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS, THE WALKING DEAD. PJ Soles-Actress. HALLOWEEN, CARRIE, THE DEVIL'S REJECTS. Adorably cute, although she (and most of the cast) look too old to be high school students. Plays an obsessed Ramones fan, although she revealed she was terrified during the concert segment by the unruly behavior of the actual band fans who were there for the event. Clint Howard-Actor. EVILSPEAK, ICE CREAM MAN. Vince Van Patton-Actor. HELL NIGHT Mary Woronov-Actress. DEATH RACE 2000, NIGHT OF THE COMET. Dick Miller-Actor. Has been in everything ever made,it seems, usually for a short scene, but always memorable. THE TERMINATOR, THE TERROR, GREMLINS, BUCKET OF BLOOD, THE HOWLING, MATINEE. |

FADE TO BLACK 1980
Living only on a steady diet of cigarettes and old movies, a young man starts losing touch with reality. He becomes obsessed with a Marilyn Monroe look-alike and starts bringing murderous movie characters to life to kill anyone standing in his way. A nice change of pace but a little tame. |
