Not sure of my buddies are still around on here (urge - you there??) but it is good to be back. |

Oh ...you got me!!!!!!!!!!::embarrassment::::embarrassment::::em barrassment::
It was GREMLINS 2... I must have really been zoning out...all those late 80's sequels coming out around the same time. |
THE BLOB (1988). Silly, but pretty damn good remake of the Steve MacQueen original. Really enjoy this one a lot...cast does well and exceptional FX. ***1/2

I watched Hellraiser today (I saw it about a year ago) because I just bought it on DVD yesterday. Loved it. First time I watched it, I wasn't very fond of it, but rewatching it, it's truly a horror classic.

They tried their best to emulate a story which is basically a cross between The Omen and Children of the Damned. It all ended up being a suspense-thriller with killer kids on the rampage. The children did their part but the problem lay with all the adult actors - just not there at all. It could have been a nice little cult classic today, but it's best being under the stockpile of 80s films. * * ½ |

THE CHILDREN. 1980
The children of Ravensback are mutated by leaking gas from a nearby nuclear plant. They kill their parents and other adults by placing their hands on them and turning them into crispy critters. Yikes! I liked it. |

MONSTER IN THE CLOSET. 1986
A clever parody on horror films. The actors never pushed the jokes, like some do, almost winking at the camera and the cliches were never overdone. A monster is terrorizing, well, almost all of the United States. It hides in closets and appears to be indestructible. A Clarke Kent-like reporter, a priest, his niece and her son try to destroy him with the help of an Einstein doppelganger. The films stars Claude Akins, Howard Duff, Stella Stevens, Henry Gibson and a very young Paul Walker. Delightful. |

Never heard about that one before. Thanks! "Monster In the Closet" 6/10 If i didn't know any better i would never have guessed this was a Troma creation. Sure it was cheesy, but it was well made and starring good actors. Funny to see Paul Walker this young and in this kind of movie. Even more surprising was the appearance of Fergie in the intro. FERGIE??!!! Didn't knew she was an actor before Black Eyed Peas. |

FRIGHTMARE 1983
A well-known horror actor (with a bit of a Christopher Lee vibe) passes away and his body is stolen from his crypt by a group of enthusiastic fans. They spend the night in a strange mansion where he made a lot of films, and somehow he is resurrected! Its very grainy, dark and "foggy" in the house, so its hard to see a lot of what's going on, but basically the fans are killed off. Different but not horrible. |
^I am a big fan of Pete Walker films - not just his horror stuff either.
|
HIDE AND GO SHRIEK 1987
A group of teenagers graduate from highschool and celebrate by spending the night and partying in a furniture store(???). They are predictably stalked by a killer with a very strange and hard to believe motive. Not a fan of this one. |
THE MONSTER CLUB 1980
A vampire (Vincent Price) brings a "human"acquaintance to a night club frequented by monsters only. He tries to educate the human in the ways and history of non-humans by telling him 3 spooky tales. I could have done without the musical numbers heralding each story and felt a bit of a Tales of the Crypt vibe. It was allright...really enjoyed the last story. |
CRYPT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1973) AKA HANNAH, QUEEN OF THE VAMPIRE.
This creeped my brother and I out when we saw it as kids, especially the "surprise" ending. Sadly, it's not aged well, but it seems a lot of vampire films during this period were in a state of flux, anyway. ** |

DAWN OF THE DEAD 1978
Revisited this little classic. Can't remember the last time I watched it. Hard-pressed to find much better. |

A love story 68 years in the making! Not only does it appeal to your heart, but it makes you smile with a tear in your eye! Gosh, Jane Seymour is so breathtakingly beautiful that I could watch the film 10,000 times in repetition and grow old just gazing at her radiant beauty. Oh, and the theme music is wonderful. One of the best I have heard in movies. Absolutely recommended. Send your brains on vacation and let your heart take over. * * * * |

Who Dares Wins (1982)
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ilm_poster.jpg Brit Tv hunk, Lewis Collins, plays an SAS officier who goes under cover into the trendy left antiwar movement to stop a terrrorist plot. Made to exploit the popularity of the SAS after the Iranian Embassy siege. This was a film I have wanted to see since it came out and just picked up on DVD for €0.50. Not as good as it should be but still a good watch and definitive proof that cool was at at all time low in 1982. Needed more extras/villians from the Sweeny. thanks for moving this... |
