Could be good.

The Monkey's Paw (2013)

Interesting cajun twist on the Poe story. I wish they'd put some more thought in the wishes aspect. And some more backstory. Worth a watch. The baddie reminded me a bit of user Angra.

Ah yeah, I think it's a Rob Zombie movie. I'll look forward to that one. Although I gotta admit, I'm a little torn on whether or not I get too into horror films based on true serial killers. One of the things that keeps my conscience clean while watching gruesome gore and violence is that it's all just a movie.

Nifty little thriller. Would have liked to see the main character going through more ideas for completing the tasks, or seeing some clever & humorous details, but still pretty decent.

The Manson Family (2003)

Creatively edited, rapid-fire exploitation mockumentary that attempts to tell the story from the eyes of "The Family" members, while also exploring the idea that The Family lives on through modern day Manson followers. The acting's distractingly mediocre for a faux documentary, but it's worth watching for the interesting delivery and the the sheer gruesomeness of the murders.

7/10

A mockumentary? Makes it sound like a comedy, or at least a parody. Why do you call it a mockumentary? Was it in documentary style with a narrator & stuff?

I've researched The Family a number of times for various reasons. Including getting to know the real life victims of The Family. From what I read this is truly an exploitation film. I'm sure I'm all alone on this, but I'm really getting bothered at actual crimes of real people getting killed being portrayed as nothing but exploitation entertainment.

'A mockumentary? Makes it sound like a comedy, or at least a parody. Why do you call it a mockumentary? Was it in documentary style with a narrator & stuff?'

Part of it is sort of found footage - meant to be be like the The Family home movies. The is also a segment (not FF) set in contemporary times.

The tatlented Jim Van Bebber directed it - I loved it. It doesn't particularly exploit the crimes, no more than any other film on the subject.

I loved this movie. Funny when it should be and the Mum is a hoot.

A well acted and well shot indie movie, but watching two guys living their daily lives and having their daily conversations in a zombie apocalyptic world was a rather dull experience. Sorry Raegan.

i could not finish it, it was sooooo boring!!

My latest:

The Canal

0/10

Horrible in every way!!

Ouija

7/10

It had it's moments but I wish it had a creepier feel to it, like The Ring.

Nightcrawler

10/10

Jake was awesome in this!! I loved the character and the obsession and the dark humor.

Hallow's Eve

3/10

Typical lame B movie but it had a few moments that were watchable.

vampyd1977 02-14-2015 02:46 AM

Nightcrawler (2014)
C
Good acting and well made but it's overrated.
Also stupid that they based this on an actual person and used his name when it's not actually about him.
I guess they did it because otherwise it was just a movie about some crazy guy who wants to be a reporter.

Horrible Bosses (2014)
C
Some good jokes but the story was a bit of a mess imo and the movie was too long.

Entrance(2012) SO bad. When people make fun of hipsters...its embodied in this film. I stopped at 25 minutes. Nothing happens until 50 minutes in and then the action seems to be without purpose. Fuck, it was bad.

"Three strangers arrive one by one at a mysterious cabin in the middle of nowhere only to learn they've been brought together for a reason."

True, but the what-the-fuckness is very far out there in this one. One need to pay attention.
