EMPERORS OF THE DEEP-William McKeever. I find Sharks fascinating (although it would be terrifying to be grabbed by one) and this is a good study on them, although takes an ecological bent with the story and many sections here infuriated Me, such as Shark Tournaments, Global Warming, Fishing Boat Slavery, Long Line Fishing and especially Finning. Think the Sharks have more to fear from Us instead of the other way around

The Witching Hour
Just finished this book and i have to say the audio experience of a horror book is something words cannot describe::big grin::
Y'all can check it out at ::devil:: https://amzn.to/38HfHpi Just used the free subscription option and i'm loving it::smile::::cool:: |
AMERICAN ADULTERER-Jeb Mercurio. Although based on Historical events, I'm sure a lot of AA is based on Author speculation. It deal with President Kennedy after He becomes President and his dealing with what might be termed "Sexual Addiction". It's amazing He was able to do his job what with his obsession-Doubly amazing is despite the PR slant of "Vigor", JFK was wracked with a whole slew of Medical problems and even if He had completed His term (or another one), it's doubtful He would have lived much longer. Tawdry to be sure, but fascinating.

Re-reading The Stand by Stephen King for a book club I just joined.

SOUTHERN LIGHTHOUSES: CHESAPEAKE BAY TO THE GULF OF MEXICO-Text by Ray Jones and (AMAZING) photos by Bruce Roberts.
The publisher has other books on Lights in different Geographical areas. After Old Point Loma (San Diego CA April 1997), Wife and I have become Lighthouse fans...something so cool about them and have loved so many. As of September 2020, have seen 243, the last one Brant Point at Nantucket MA. |
ive been looking at this book called "no go the bogeyman" that has all these different myths and storys of different bogeymen from different countrys and history..

MICK-Christopher Anderson. Tell all book on Mick Jagger. Interesting and would have liked for it to be longer. He truly is a Man of Wealth and Taste, among other things.

A Judgement in Stone
by Ruth Rendell |
THE LINCOLNS IN THE WHITE HOUSE-FOUR YEARS THAT SHATTERED A FAMILY-Jerold Packard. Very good overview of His Presidency. Find Lincoln a fascinating person and truly impressed that He just didn't throw up his hands and go back to Illinois.

horror book
So I am a horror book writer currently reading "Edgar Allan Poe: Tales of Terror and Madness" and I think this one is one of the best ones I have read so far.
|
GRAVEN IMAGES-Ronald Borst. Very satisfying read of a Serious Horror Movie Poster collector...Ron has a lot of them from the silents to the end of the 60's with good essays by Robert Bloch, Harlan Ellison, Peter Strauss and Forrest J Ackerman, among others.
|
THE YOUNGS: THE BROTHERS WHO BUILT AC/DC-Jesse Fink. Good history of Angus and Malcolm, along with their older Brother George, a member of The Easybeats who also with his EB partner Harry Vanda produced, wrote and performed for many years. Mentions of several key players in the story.
The author is obviously a fan, but the Young's don't come off too highly-suspicious, controlling and absolutely ruthless around those who offend them. Guess that's why it's called the Music Business. |
Fiction: 'GATOR-George Ford. Another 70's "Nature Strikes Back.
Non-Fiction: HANNS AND RUDOLF-Thomas Harding. Very good saga of an exiled German Jew who helped capture the Commandant from Auschwitz. |
Skeleton Crew by Stephen King.

KILLER SHOW-John Barylick. Extremely good account about the Station nightclub where in Feb 2003, pyro for Great White caused a catastrophic fire. There were SO many little things that added to this tragedy and if one of those little things had not been done, there would have been a different outcome.
|
Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts (Book 2 of The Chronicles of the One)
|
Reading an actual physical book. Haven't done this for awhile. "A Dark-Adapted Eye" by Barbara Vine

Quote:
THEY JUST SEEM A LITTLE WEIRD-Doug Brod. Very entertainng tome of four mid-late 70's rock bands (KISS, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick and Starz) with their histories and how there was a connection for all of them, such as management, producers, touring, personal relations, etc. Like all four of these bands (a true KISS fanatic in the 70's) and have been able to see three of them twice KISS (Unplugged in '95, very good and in '96 for the Reunion Loud and Bombastic, but musically dull), Aerosmith in '83 (Not bad, missing Perry/Whitford) and '84 (Absolutely horrendous, along with Van Halen in '82, THE worst) and Cheap Trick ('18 and '20, great both times) Starz, sadly, didn't make the big time-a shame as they had the chops and the songs. Heartily recommend the debut ('76) and the following years VIOLATION, both stellar albums, last two aren't great, but not bad either. |
Fiction-DAWN OF THE DEAD. Novelization of the film by Romero and Susanna Sparrow.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE MOST TERRIFYING ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER-Joe Kane
Kane is also known as "The Phantom of The Movies" and He always is enjoyable. While the focus is on NIGHT, all of Romero's films are covered as well as offshoots like RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD. Also included is the original NOTLD script, with major differences and You can also see John Russo used a lot of references while writing the 1974 novelization. |
Planning to start on Pride and Prejudice
|
THE GREAT WAR- Jay Winter and Blaine Baggett. Excellent telling of WW1
GHOUL-Brian Keene |
Fiction: THE KIDNAPPER-Robert Bloch
Non-Fiction: LIFE ON PLANET ROCK-Lonn Friend. Friend was the Main Man for RIP magazine in late 80's-early 90's as well as other endeavors. Fun magazine to read as He was truly a Fan of the music...would have liked more photos, though. |
THE RISING-Brian Keene
CITY OF THE DEAD on deck... |
