Superhero themed night...
4 and a half hours in a theatre, anyone?

Superman Returns
X-Men 3

Both were solid films, I preferred Superman over X-Men 3, however. I'll have full opinions tomorrow.

Had a bunch of people over tonight and we watched Office Space while waiting for more people to show up. One of my all-time favourite comedies.

Incredible Mr. Limpet

Didn't remember as much about this one as I thought, not a bad movie but the songs were easily some of Disney's worst.

Return of the Living Dead

I love this movie. I seemed to remember it being a little more comical the first time around. Still great, it'd been too long since I watched it.

night watch

finally watched "night watch" last night... i really enjoyed it. i felt the tension b/tw light and dark. i also like how the line b/tw good and evil was skewed. nice twist at the end, sets up for the next installment. overall: 7.5-10.

*flip the disk over to watch the original version w/ subtitles b/c the dubbed side is a bit awkward.

It's Warner Brothers, I believe.

Speaking of Disney, I just watched Disney's Hercules. Damn I love that movie, probably my all-time favorite animated film. Sure, they completly slaughter Greek myths, but who cares? It turns out to be a great story, with some great music to boot.

Fight For Your Life:
Total exploitative genius. Combined the Blax/Crime/and Revenge subgenres to great effect. The only down point was the main "straight as an arrow" cop's sudden change of heart towards the end? But thats never important when watching these kinda flicks.... I got what they meant (and it'd take spoliers to explain it so fuck that) it just wasn't executed very well.
I loved it. Guaranted to offend with its racial slurs and a nasty scene involving a rock but whatever. This is a true classic of 70s US cinema. Cinema with grit and guts that conveyed the deep seeded hatred/stereotypes (while over coming these points at the same time in its own crude way, which I feel is better because it hammers it home a hell of a lot more than the PC manner this subject matter usually gets) of the country at the time. Fuckin cool flick with the badest grandma this side of Surf Nazis Must Die!
