Parasitic was a pure low budget crap but there were few decent creature effects as the director, Tim Martin is a special effects artist who already worked in some big budget Hollywood movies but for his own movie he couldn't show any other talent aside from his general field.

The Collingswood Story was a decent low budget indie effort where the whole film proceeds through some web cam or web video phone conversations between the characters. Not bad, worth a watch for the indie lovers.

War of the Dead...as the title suggests, it's about fast-ass kicking Nazi zombies! My expectation was low for this one but surprisingly it turned out quite well made & kinda entertaining.

Gangsters, Guns & Zombies...Britt low budget poor zombie flick that tried to be funny but failed most of the part.

Scalene...after reading some reviews & particularly the plot synopsis (A perceptual thriller told from three points-of-view revolving around the rape of a female college student by a mentally handicapped man and his mother's subsequent revenge after his incarceration...), I got interested to check this out. With a good production value & decent unknown cast, the film even started nicely where the first segment of flashbacks proceeds with a Memento flavor...backwardly. But the whole build up & the story becomes nothing but a wasted opportunity when they reveal the god damned "truth or reason" behind the main incident...which I found totally irrational & stupid.

The Gestapo's Last Orgy...another sleazy prison camp Nazisploitation flick. They should 'reboot' this series (may be with a mix of some other horror ideas/themes). I won't mind to see a good budget treatment of these movies today. :)

That would be cool. Hopefully they'd come up with something better than the recent Nazi orientated movies. I think that the climate is perhaps to politically correct for anyone to get away with putting out shit like back in the subgenre's heyday.

Saw "Basket Case" for the first time today. I don't know what took so long. A great horror-comedy with great (if low-budget) fx. Very similar feel to the first Evil Dead.

"Detention" 2/10

The movie wasn't funny, it was way too smart-ass for its own good, the story was a mess and quite confusing (Not even sure it made any sense at all) and the lead character was a pathetique, annoying, self pitiful weiner.

In other words. FAIL

Totally understand & respect your feelings, dude:D It was an one big mess indeed. I gave it a watch without knowing much about it & I expected a simple fun slasher but highly disappointed on that note. But for it's good production value & their intentional efforts to making it what it is...I gave it a "B-"!

Not entirely a bad execution for an old-tired idea; time passing slasher...could have been little better.

My local cheap cinema is doing the occasional "old" films.
Tonight, I got to see "Back to the Future" on the big screen...While I grew up in the 80's and saw it before, I never got to catch this at a cinema, I was like four when it came out.
I saw the sequels at the cinema about 5 years later and I always enjoyed the trilogy...and I never thought I'd get the chance here, but after 27 years there it is. I had to go to this.
I've not seen this one in some years.
Pretty fun watch, bought back a lot of memories and there was so much I didn't remember - it was funnier than I remembered.
People bought their kids, I heard some kids that must've been about the age I would have been at this time, they were really enjoying it.
Envied 'em just a bit.

I've been looking for Neri's 1972 thriller AMUCK (with Barbara Bouchet!) for some time now but couldn't able to find it anywhere so far. It'll be great if anyone can share a torrent link of Amuck (1972).

just watched V.H.S. great movie, espeacialy the first short story. 8/10 very good for a low budget movie.

The Amityville Horror- Original version. Still love it.

Best Worst Movie- As recommended to me by...newb? I think it was newb. I can't believe how serious the director, writer, and actress who played the mother are about the film. The actress even compared Troll 2 to Casablanca. What the hell? After watching the documentary, the movie seems even more "wtf" to me.

Troll 2- I noticed even more stuff to laugh at this time.

The Skeleton Key- I've always liked this movie and can't understand why other people dislike it so much.

White Noise- I wonder how many people stare at snowy screens now, after watching this movie.

MichaelMyers 08-25-2012 02:42 PM

Paranormal Activity 3 - A few good scares. Better than I thought it would be given the divided opinions I've read on this forum. B+

Jaws - re-watched for the first time in a long time this afternoon. Always have classified Jaws as a horror film given how damn tough the shark is. Lots of gore, yet a PG rating...those were the days... A

this movie started off real lame ,like it was trying to be an old 80s slasher with stupid un called for deaths and some tits pulled out at random and bad acting.was almost over it and then all of a sudden it started getting serious and was actually pretty good.then i learned that the ghost and house were actually spose to exist in real life which made it even a bit better.

7/10

Angra 08-26-2012 02:20 AM

"The Illusionist" 6-7/10

It was alright.

Never really picked up the pace tho, and it bugged me a little i never found out if it was all real or not and if not then how the hell he did it. At least we saw that in "The Prestige".

Fearonsarms 08-26-2012 04:42 AM

Galaxy Of Terror (1981) Ultra gory Roger Corman sci-fi horror cheesefest. I did actually like this a lot more than I expected to. It is very confusing at times but things make sense as it progresses and as the death scenes get more bizarre and warped. These are very very good but also despite the cheesiness of the setting, characters, dialogue there is still an oppressive atmosphere with some surprisingly majestic set pieces for such a low budget production. There are a lot of familiar horror fan friendly faces here-Sid Haig and Robert Englund to name a couple but there's a few others too. It does even feel rewarding while you unravel what is actually going on but the messy delivery may not suit everyone as will the frustrating lack of clarity some scenes possess as you have piece it all together in a weird retrogressive way that for me means I will enjoy watching this again :)

Horror High- It looked like a class project for a group in high school. Oh, Charisma Carpenter, how you have fallen.

I think it was called "Haunted High" but it was crap. Charisma Carpenter was actually listed as a main actress on the TV info strip. Without spoiling it, her appearance is the very definition of being there to pick up a check. I've noticed her in a few Lifetime shows and another Syfy movie before "Haunted High." But she should have passed on this.

Oops, you're right on all counts! She was in it for what, 2 minutes?

I liked it alot - the trailer was a bit misleading (made the main character look like a thick country cop rather than a funny sarcastic bastard)
