Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

It was kinda silly but i pretty much expected that from a movie about Abraham Lincoln fighting vampires so i was fine with it. The beginning was rushed though and after he becomes president it kinda drags a little until the final battle which was really cool. Speaking of fighting, the fight scenes were awesome. Overall fun and entertaining.

Sorry - it was a boxing drama from 1962 called Requiem for a Heavyweight - starring Anthony Quinn (and Mickey Rooney/Jackie Gleason).

Good ol' school martial arts fun.

They don't make them like this anymore.

ATM

Three people are trapped in an ATM vestibule because a guy in a parka is staring at them. If that sounds condescending, good its supposed to.

I love movies where people are trapped somewhere, so i thought i would enjoy this one. But there's one big thing missing in this movie. The element of fear. This movie is not scary at all and you don't even get the feeling that it's scary for the characters. Not that they don't act scared or seemed scared but there's just no real feeling of terror.

Also the ending sucked.

Avoid this one.

Contains a bunch of colorful characters, some recognizable faces and the most adorable hero you've ever seen in a martial arts flick. :D

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)

Plot: IMDB
Explores the secret life of the America's greatest president, Abraham Lincoln, and the untold story that shaped the nation. The future president discovers blood-thirsty vampires are planning to take over the United States. Lincoln makes it his mission to eliminate them, becoming history's greatest hunter of the undead.

Phantom's Review: First let me say Yes, I have read the book and I enjoyed it. Now Having said that let me say I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Even though there were many changes to the story and characters, I found the film to action packed, well acted and interesting. The actors do a fine job and it's nice to see a modern film trying to make vampires scary again. The film is beautifully shot and gives a look of an old style sepia tone photo. The middle portion of the film does get a little slow, but it picks up big time at the end with a major action piece. Overall a highly enjoyable action/monster movie.(Now if only they could figure out a story that combines Lincoln,Van Helsing, Blade and Buffy..now THAT would be a movie)

Scary True Stories: Ten Haunting Tales from the Japanese Underground- This was akin to shows you see on American TV that re-enact "real life" ghost stories. It was pretty creeptastic. In the beginning you might be a bit bored but I feel it gets better as it goes on. Also, you get a nice blast from the past by watching this as it was shot in the 90's and some of the stories are from the 80's.

I got a chance to watch last Saturday's SyFy Channel movie of the week "Arachnoquake" last night. Tracy Gold and Edward Furlong, Giant Spiders...what's not to love?

But I think the big event will be Tomorrow's SyFy Channel movie of the week "Bigfoot" with Danny Bonaduce from "The Partridge Family" and Barry Williams from "The Brady Bunch", Sherilyn Fenn from "Twin Peaks" with special guest appearances by Alice Cooper and Billy Idol! Might be the best SyFy movie yet!

Nailbiter (2012)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/.../nailbiter.jpg

This low-budget indie flick got some potential. With fine camera works & some passable background scores, it maintained a decent level of suspense & atmosphere with a kind of 80s vibe throughout the movie. But as a "creature feature", the major disappointment was the creatures didn't get much of screen time as required; probably there was a budget issue. They only able to show the glimpse of the face & hands 1 or 2 times, not the full figure. Moreover, there were some plot holes, particularly about the background story of those Storm Creatures. And also the cast seems to be good at the beginning but they didn't deliver their best output, I guess. Otherwise, not a bad film at all. It was entertaining at some parts.

Despite having some plot holes I really enjoyed this post-apoc Lord of the flies. I have to admit I was half way thru it before recognising Michael Biehn.

The premise was great but found most of the characters pretty weak & annoying. Quite reluctantly they let those 2 guys to take control of the situation & have the 'advantages or power' over them.

I own it, it's one of my favorites. Forgot to mention I also watched Contagion. Not an action-packed blockbuster, but very enjoyable.

I just watched Death and Cremation with Brad Douriff. Cool lil movie man I was kinda iffy because I haven't been on a horror kick in awhile. That and when I saw Green Apple entertainment on the disc I was thinkin "fuck she got some ole cheese movie" It was extremely scary or anything bad but I found it entertaining.

Superbly engrossing. Fast-paced, very atmospheric, well-acted and a good script. One of the best thrillers in recent times. Definitely give this a watch.

Agree but it'd fine to see 1 or 2 character(s) who at least try or take the initiative to do some things right or give a fight for the good & weak. And the success or failure of their attempt is another issue which may depends on the situation or support from the others etc. As long the story & the events are fictional...it won't be bad to have an irregular/unconventional or may be a regular/conventional 'good guy' character into the mix who at least make some effort do the things that's right or required when situation demands.

Syfy Monster Movies.

I've been watching some of the Syfy weekend movies. Not completely like a normal movie but glancing off and on. I always thought they were bad. I'm pretty sure they are intentionally bad now. The most recent one was Bigfoot. It's strange how there are no rules in these movies. The monster just runs wild.

I watched part of that the other night, too, and couldn't get over how bad it was. It wasn't even "fun bad" to me, just "bad bad". The graphics, the dialogue, the acting; all of it was just horrendous.

So High 07-02-2012 04:43 PM

I think they fall into the so bad its funny category though.
