PROMETHEUS (2012). Great sets and stunning photography can't help an incredibly weak script with stupid characters to boot. Feel the CGI mades the aliens look less fierce. Worth checking out, but once was enough. **1/2

"Unbroken" 9/10

Let me start by saying, I haven't read the book which might be why I liked it so much, coz it sure gets a beating on IMDB from the book lovers club. Holy hell. Apparently the movie lacks a lot of the story from the book, especially what happened after the war was over.
But as a person who isn't as enlightened about the true story I thought this was an amazing experience and accomplishment from Angelina Jolie and the Cohen brothers. Epic is what it is.

Story:
"The life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympic athlete who joined the armed forces during the second world war. Only to be captured by the Japanese navy after an almost fatal plane crash in the Pacific. After the Japanese have him, they send him to a refugee camp, only to face daring challenges head on."

Under the title it says, "The unbelievable true story" and that's exactly how I would describe it. An amazingly unbelievable true story.

See it. ::cool::

Its not your Freddie Prinze Jr/Sarah Michelle Gellar "Scooby Doo". Its pretty explicit and gruesome.

Jeepers Creepers (2001)

While driving home to visit their family, two siblings are pursued by a flesh-eating monster that is on its last day of its ritualistic feeding spree.

This was recommended to me by countless people, and I saw it on Netflix, so I gave it a go. This movie wasn't even close to being scary, which was kinda disappointing, but I thought it had a cool villain and storyline, and it was just an extremely entertaining movie. It had some plot issues, but this movie was still really fun to watch.

Great set up & atmosphere like any good European horror movie offer nowadays but didn't deliver creepy stuffs as much I expected. Moreover, it was like an underdeveloped plot that seems quite interesting at the beginning but got lost at the end, as if they weren't sure what to do or where to go with it after the initial, promising build up.

I agree with this review only I give it a C.
Too vague and too much wasted potential.
I think with some changes this could've been a really great movie!

Spoilers
-That relic/stone was cheap. Couldn't they've come with something better looking?
-The widow tried to BURN the stone. Would've made more sense if the owner of the place tried to smash it with a hammer.
-At the end the police dude said the signs carved into the American pointed to some place deep in outer space. That and the stone are Lovecraft references imo which I think are cool. I think with a good re-write this could be a great Lovecraftian movie.

Loved this movie. Micheal Keaton gives the performance of his life. He should definitely at least be nominated for an oscar for his acting in this. The movie itself is a compelling look at fame, depression, and relevancy. The story is great, is sad and serious some moments and hilarious others and the cinematography is amazing. Highly recommended, just don't get confused and think its a superhero movie. You'll be sorely disappointed.

The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...psdf77b179.jpg

Not as good as the first but better then the second one which i felt was a dragged out set up for this film. I really didn't like how quickly they resolved the ending of the second film. Seemed like after all that it should've mattered more but once it gets into the pivotal battle, it's a lot of fun. The ending's not great but it works for what it is. The series as a whole doesn't even begin to touch Lord of The Rings but its fun.

"Into the Woods" 3/10

Except for the beautiful cinematography I really disliked this one. I've never understood why you would make a musical just for the sake of having actors singing their lines instead of saying them, but without any real intentions of making catchy songs? In my eyes it's just ruining something that could've been a good movie. I had the same problems with "Sweeney Todd". Even before I was halfway through Into the Woods I didn't give a rats ass what was going on and I couldn't wait till it was over so my increasing headache would disappear again.

I would choose the new remake of Annie over Into the Woods any day of the week. At least THAT shit has catchy songs. :danger:

Didn't find the story neither very interesting nor exciting, and holy hell Mark Warlberg was annoying in this one. A douchebag you really don't wish well.

I'm most looking forward to see this. Fascinating true story. Never read the book either. I think Dune 1984 got the same book-snob treatment.

Ya, I haven't been impressed with the 1st two Hobbit films, especially the 2nd. Honestly I think the 1977 animated The Hobbit was better; and even more so for the animated 1979 The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe compared to the live action big budget film.

Fantastic film, great insight into the cracked psyche of an individual. Eva Green really shines through. The girl students perform exemplary as well.

Recommended.

Another film which could have been a masterpiece, except for minor flaws. Eva is once again overwhelmingly powerful depicting her desolation, as the bizarre story revolves around her. The ending, though a sad one, is equally moving and impactful. Recommended as well, if you like a dose of surreality in your bizarre pie.

Agreed. I absolutely loved this movie. 9/10 might be a little bit strong for me, but I thought it was quality throughout. Keaton is such a huge talent, have been a fan of his for years. Its great to see him at the top of his game.

Man, we can't talk to each other.

You're aware it's the same guy who wrote the songs to both movies, right? I'm guessing that's why they're so similar in style.

The Amityville Horror (2005)

A family moves into their dream home only to learn that it was the sight of a mass murder a year earlier.

As far as remakes go, this is one of the rare ones that rivals its predecessor in quality. In this case, they're both about as mediocre and moronic, but this one is even worse. The one or two scenes in the original that scared me where completely ruined by predictable jump scares, which the film relies on a lot, as well as bad special effects. The remake significantly toned-down the priest character, and that's both a good thing and a bad thing. A good thing because I hated his character in the original, but a bad thing because he's even more unnecessary since he only appears in two scenes. Even if you enjoyed the original, I don't recommend this one at all.
