I do think it's sad, however, if you don't "give two shits" about the films responsible for where the genre you love today is at. They're important pieces of this history, so saying that you're a horror movie fan but you couldn't give a shit about its history just seems kind of ignorant to me.

Ive recently started appreciating the classic quite a bit more recently. I can sit through them and enjoy them. the more i watch, the more they grow on me.

This list is awesome. Much better than the mainstream ones that are on the internet. Kudos

It was put together with a lot of love from a group of hardcore horror fans.

Thank you for the compliment:)

I've seen most of the films on the list very good :) It was also great to see someone mention "Carnival Of Souls"! An innovative take on horror. A lot of horror films pre1970 rely on the psychological rather then the visual and I think that unfortunately puts people off who have grown up with the visual thrills of modern horror. Those disillusioned with asian cinema should try "Shutter" the original not the remake. Subtley scary stuff.

I just watched The Orphanage and loved it. It occurred to me that if our Top 100 was compiled today, it'd make it in.

I was wondering if anybody else could offer any movies of the last few years, post list composition, that are worthy of rubbing shoulders with the greats therein?

I'm really happy with the way this list turned out. :)

I don't know who puts these list together but C'MON.

Dawn of the Dead (1978) at #1?!? Really? I'm not sure I'd put it in the top 50 at all. It's mostly stupid. The Dawn of the Dead remake should be on the Top 10 and it is far superior and it comes in at #85?!? Hell it came in below Shaun of the Dead which isn't scary at all and also shouldn't be on the list.

Same goes for The Evil Dead, Day of the Dead, Se7en, Evil Dead 2, Hellraiser and a bunch of other nonsense. Pumpkinhead at #39 is scarier than all of them. Aliens should be easily Top 10 and dreck like Event Horizon and Blair Witch Project shouldn't be on the list at all.

I didn't even see The Hunger or Salem's Lot but a cartoon "Vampire Hunter D" made the list.
