Slaughterhouse 5

The world is a poorer place without Kurt Vonnegut.

And Laurence Olivier and Gregory Peck.

Great actors, yes- and I love them both. But Vonnegut was a great, great man- great Humanist, great thinker- who really had an effect on people's lives.

No offense intended, but an actor's influence really can't compare.

I disagree. Laurence Olivier's performance in "Wuthering Heights" is what got me interested in reading the classics.

Yes- but he didn't WRITE those classics.

But, his performance is what got me interested.

You know, we could go back and forth all day on this - let's just call it a draw and say you have your opinion and I have mine. OK? :)

I can't call it a draw because you're just not going to find Olivier or Peck on any list of the great thinkers of the 20th century- but you WILL find Vonnegut on those lists. That's not an opinion- it's a fact.

However, you won't find Vonnegut on any list of great actors.
