Faces in the Crowd (2011)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...idhdc/FITC.jpg

Liked the main tool of this thriller....Prosopagnosia aka Face-Blindness, the problem that the main character of the story, Anna (played by Milla Jovovich) starts to living with after surviving a serial killer's attack. As its got a good production value they have able to use lots of 'faces (actors)' to show what sort of problem Anna is having & how she's dealing with and they did a fine job there. But the sad thing is they didn't use it much to make this common premise of the thriller more interesting. The most frustrating thing is the killer is too easy to identify, as soon as he/she first appears on the screen anyone can guess him/her. Moreover, killer's character or style of killing isn't interesting at all, there is nothing new. But liked the way they gave a little Giallo flavor in the film, as the the killer commonly uses a razor blade & even in one quick shot we see him/her wearing black gloves.

Overall, not bad...could have been lot better.

The Tempter aka The Antichrist (1974)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/.../Tempter74.jpg

"The Exorcist" in 70's Italian way! They have shown a hell lot of demonic possession activity in its almost 2 hour running time. Though some of the effects are quite dated but it was very fun to watch & I loved it. There were some nice works on set design also, especially liked the red corridor full with statues hanging on the wall. Overall, a very decent effort. Fans of this sub-genre of exorcism need to check this out.

A big thanks to our Ferox13, for sharing it & giving me the opportunity to see this gem, it was a 'hard-to-find' film for me. :)

Green Lantern (2011)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...antern2011.jpg

Though he did well as Sinestro but when I first saw Mark Strong in a film (probably in Sherlock Holmes), the first comic book character that I thought he can fit nicely was....Lex Luthor.

Never thought the first GL film adaptation would turn out as an average superhero film.

"The Caller" 7-8/10

Yea, a pretty decent watch.

Quite slow paced and very repetitive. And the ending was just fucked. Like.. why? Why would she wait that long????

But yes, other than that it was pretty rentworthy.

That might be, but it lacked Steve Martin. ;)

His dentist song was the highlight of the 86 version, imo.

You have a big iphone screen or... am i just getting very old??

I mean, how can you watch an entire movie on such a small screen and get the same out of it as watching it on tv/cinema?

I coulnd't do that.

I'll watch them in order to kill time, especially when i have a 2 hour gap in between some classes. Also I get a very good signal which gives me great quality. It's not how I watch all my movies, just another way to.

Blood Runs Cold (2011)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...dhdc/BRC11.jpg

Not too bad as a low budget slasher.

Casino Royale (1967)

Quite chaotic but a good Bond spoof with an unbelievably hot & great cast.

No I mean the original ending to the 86' version of Little Shop of Horrors. The "everybody dies" ending.

Halloween
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...R30214317_.jpg

For the Halloween season i decided to watch all the Halloween movies (excluding Resurrection and H2) over the course of a few days. Obviously i started with the first one and it is of course the best. One of my favorite horror movies of all time. Next up, Halloween 2.

A Blade In The Dark (1983) Directed by Lamberto Bava (Macabre, Demons) son of Mario. This was an ok typical Italian horror of its time. If like me you've seen a fair amount of giallos you will find this fairly predictable. Not awful but not essential either.

Trespass (2011)

http://postimage.org/image/1pbi4n44/

Though it's not a remake, but the premise & the set up has some similarities with the recent Spanish film Secuestrados aka Kidnapped, which is a far better home invasion thriller than this one big mess. You won't like to give a damn about the characters or care about what happens to them at the end; even Cage & Kidman couldn't able to contribute anything other than their face value.
Skip this one, watch the Spanish one that I already mentioned...where you'll find a shocking ending at least.

The bathroom scene in that flick is the highlight for me. Great stuff.

The Thing (2011)
I actually liked it more than I thought I would.
While Carpenters 80's effort still remains my favourite (despite the effects showing their age), this one had like the first one, genuine suspense.
The characters, hit and miss. Yes, I could pick at a few issues but overall I can't complain - I feel as though enough respect was paid to Carpenters work, to go hand in hand with it.
The effects are pretty insane, it was great to see more of the creature in different forms.
It actually makes a pretty decent companion to the original, and I'll be grabbing the BluRay when it's out.
