Raw -8/10

In the wake of a hazing ritual a vegetarian girl becomes attracted to first meat in general and later human meat.

Without giving away any spoilers, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, hasd some pretty fucked up moments and a finale that delivers (although by that point it's not THAT surprising).

Well recommended.

But I am looking forward to the Godzilla 2014 sequel.
Too bad we'll have to wait until 2019.

For me the choice between the two lopsided focuses wasn't my reason for liking one better than the other. I just enjoyed G-2014 a bit more despite both films' faults.

I like both: in depth focus on creature and it's effects, and also character driven. I've seen films that do both. But of course most films are way to short on the former.

This film is actually fast paced, with a modern Hollywood feel. It's just not monster fights but rather emergency response.

I thought it was interesting and mildly exciting for swaths. But the last quarter and ending were really weird for me. I didn't see the point and purpose, and it became a bit tedious... ironically when the Godzilla thing starts up again, but for no meaningful effect except lighting effects.

I'd give Shin more a 6/10. I enjoyed Godzilla (2014) more.

To each their own. If you like big monster fights, which is all the 2014 one was, then i can understand that. But if you like a good story with real world implications and a truly scary monster then in my opinion Shin is better.

Decent, time passing thriller. A guy hooked with a girl living next door but their idyllic relationship comes to an end as the girl suddenly disappears without a trace. The guy tries to track down her whereabouts but soon realizes she's not who she was pretending to be.
