This back and forth reminds me of what my boyfriend said after Paranormal Activity 2:

[SPOILERS]

Why would a demon waste its time taking the pool cleaner out of the pool? I mean, REALLY? I'm an unholy demon from the depths of the darkest unknown... Ooo! There's a pool cleaner - Flip it out of the pool! Tee hee!!

It just makes me crack up...

...back to back.

Complete entertainers. No wonder fans of Del Toro consider him to be a god amongst men. Although I could be picky and point out a few niggles in #2, such as a slightly weak story, over-imaginative characters, etc., overall it was pretty solid so yeah, let them be.

My scores - 80/100 for #1, 75/100 for #2.

Well, if you get into the history of hauntings and possessions, etc... there's plenty of that kind of nonsensical behavior... why do they bother knocking a salt shaker off the table... why do they move the shoes to the other side of the room... why do they turn the water on in the bathroom...

So, unless you want to debate the whole oeuvre of paranormal stories, I don't really see that as particular sticking point in the story.

Geez - - I wasn't really considering it a "sticking point in the story" - I actually enjoyed PA2... This was just something amusing my boyfriend said when we finished the movie which I thought amusing and thought HDC would to... Come ON, NE - Can't you just step back and giggle??? You don't find that funny AT ALL?! Oh, of course not, because you don't want to debate the whole oeuvre of paranormal stories blah blah blah blah blaaaaaaaaahhh

pppbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbttttttttttttttttttttt to you

Lee, you know that you are a valued member of this forum, and a lot of people respect your opinion on different topics, me included.

EVERYONE here gets teased about stuff. It's not meant in a malicious - at least on my part - way. Remember, your avatar says it: "Cranky".

The Town That Dreaded Sundown

Interesting movie. I like serial killer movies with the police hunting them down. The Phantom was interesting enough and the way he breathed and would stalk people made for some creepy parts but the whole movie was too light and had some misplaced comedic elements that killed the suspense. Anyway it was still pretty interesting.

Mum & Dad was the last seen movie. Good movie which was part funded by the, now defunct, UK Film Council and there seemed to be an awful lot of close ups for some reason.

Try it.

Jokuc 05-25-2011 02:47 PM

I just saw Philosophy of a Knife. It's nothing that I like too much but still, it's a well made movie that's.. Pretty good. But as I said, it's nothing enjoyable for me. I just thought that I watched some real videoclips that never ended so I almost fell asleep. Haha, I'm going to check out Jeepers Creepers before I go to bed. Oh jeez, she's 23:47 here in Sweden :D

"Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"

Excellent! Easily the best film in the franchise since the original. Great FX, good story and terrific acting from the whole cast. I loved it. Can't wait for part 5.

I just saw that on Monday. I really liked it but I wouldnt say it was the best in the franchise since the first. I would put it behind the 3rd. It still beats the 2nd though. I hated that one.

Season Of The Witch

Quite hokey in parts (not sure how serious the film makers were trying to be) and I didn't really buy any of the actors being from the time period. But I enjoyed this and thought it was a decent modern sword and sorcery flick. Very entertaining anyway. Not for those expecting something historically accurate :D

I actually liked that movie but a lot of people i talked to didnt. I think people take movies too seriously nowadays. I bet if it had been straight to dvd or something like that people would have expected less of it and just had been able to enjoy it. But then again if that was the case, probably not as many people would have seen it.

We Are What We Are - 7.5/10

A well shot, intense, intriguing horror or serial killer movie with a nice thread of originality running through it. The Mexican Tourist Board won't be endorsing it anytime soon.

This may sound weird but, I thought it had a similar vibe to Let The Right One In. Realistic and grim with a real 'matter of fact' parading of it's subject matter. You know, sucked any romance out that could've been included and just dealt with the bare bones.

hammerfan 05-27-2011 10:28 AM

Finally finished watching "Salt" on Netflix.

Interesting movie, I enjoyed it. Didn't see the twist at the end coming. Boy, they really left it wide open for a sequel, didn't they?!

I liked that movie but the ending bothered me.

SPOILERS

Why did she need to escape from the helicopter in the end? Surely once the president recovered, he could tell them that Liev Schriber's (I know i butchered the spelling) character was really a terrorist or whatever. It just seemed pointless to me. Anyway i do hope that there is a sequel.

hammerfan 05-27-2011 10:32 AM

Yes, I completely agree with you.

Did you also think that it was basically a Jason Bourne movie with a chick?

You should also take into account that originally the role was for Tom Cruise and then he backed out and they rewrote it to feature a woman instead. So imagine how it could've been.

"tucker and dale vs evil" 6/10

Not exactly hilarious. But i liked how they took the genre and turned it upside down.

House of the Long Shadows (1983)

A creepy-dark mansion full with suspicious & strange guests...always love this kinda premise.

>>: B+

Madhouse (1974)

Interesting...Price & Cushing in a Giallo kind of thriller!

Scream and Scream Again (1970)

Bit weird but fun thriller.

Seconds Apart (2011)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...sapart2010.jpg

A pretty impressive entry from After Dark Originals. Liked the story with a fine & simple ending. The twin brothers in the lead did a good job along with the other cast members. Recommended...especially to V, Chrono & Angra, you guys may like it too.

I thought it was pretty funny and like you said, i liked what they did with it. Usually im not a fan of horror comedy so i was pretty surprised by how much i liked it. Also im a fan of Alan Tudyk's from Firefly and Tyler Labine from Reaper so that was a plus.

Brotherhood 2010....................pretty good film. does anyone know who the guy in the trunk of the car was?
