Joe Abercrombie's Last Argument of Kings. The final book of an outstanding trilogy "The First Law".

Disconser 02-24-2016 08:12 AM

The Purity of Death and a few magazines.

FryeDwight 03-01-2016 05:44 AM

WHAT YOU WANT IS IN THE LIMO-Great book which details the 1973 tours of Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin and The Who. The author feels this is really when the big mega-tours began and lots of musical history of the time is noted also.

FryeDwight 03-08-2016 05:49 AM

HIDE AND SEEK-Jack Ketchum

Edgar Allan Poe: The Strange Man Standing Deep in the Shadows by Charlotte Montague.

Right now I am juggling three books. The Mystery and Lore Of MONSTERS, The More Than Complete Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, and Canterbury Tales.

FryeDwight 03-18-2016 05:27 AM

RATTLERS-Joseph Gilmore. Typical late 70's nonsense of man messing with nature for selfish gains and Nature opening a big can of whoop ass in retaliation. Lots of stock characters, sex and nasty demises. Despite this, the book is a hoot and certainly a fun way to while away a few hours.

Foundation- Isac Asminov

438 DAYS-Jon Franklin's account of a fisherman lost at sea for the period listed. Third chapter in and quite good so far.

A little. Don't tell me you're trying to juggle all those with Moby Dick.

Pandora's Box by Wesley Brian Williams

FryeDwight 04-05-2016 06:35 AM

TRIAGE-Richard Laymon, Edward Lee and Jack Ketchum. Three authors tackle the same story with slightly different angles. OK, but not much more than that.

TheBossInTheWall 04-05-2016 08:16 AM

If everything in Amanda's life is so perfect, then why the mood swings, the obscene thoughts, the urge to harm the people she loves? What are those tapping sounds in the walls? And who's that woman following her? The mystery behind what's happening to Amanda in Come Closer is so frightening that it "ought to carry a warning to...readers."

2/10

Could not finish it. Bland writing. Characters are superficial(as in no depth). The story has been done a lot already. Think of it as a book written for adults in a young adult style and fails.

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/...20regiment.jpg

Polly Perks joins the Discworld army to find her brother Paul. "Ozzer" cuts off blonde braids, dons male garb, belches, scratches, and masters macho habits aided by well-placed pair of socks. Legendary and seemingly ageless Sergeant Jackrum accepts her plus a vampire, troll, zombie, religious fanatic, and two close "friends". The best man for the job may be a woman.

6/10

Reread. A typically(for Pratchett) fun read. Not as funny as about half of his other discworld books. Lots of commentary on sexism and gender as well as being sexist itself. So deconstructing it could be interesting or just read it for fun.

FryeDwight 04-12-2016 06:01 AM

PSYCHOTRONIC ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FILM by Michael Weldon. One of the first books I got that I started checking off titles and lending to friends to do the same. Invaluable, but no doubt, the most Dog Eared book in my collection.

I didn't even know what the cover looked like when I asked for it. ::big grin::
But needless to say I wasn't disappointed.

Reread I Am Legend. Still so good. The kind of book you want more of instead of it ending.

Toddallthingshorror 04-21-2016 07:49 PM

Chainsaw Confidential by Gunnar Hansen. Book about The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Pretty good.
