So there wasn't necessarily any zombies, instead there was a pack of orphaned Nazi zombie breeders? That is an intriguingly bizarre enemy premise. Why did the breeders want to kill the women? Politics? They weren't looking to adopt?

Cabin Fever

I was really surprised by this one! It was so fun to watch, gory as hell, and also hilarious. I liked how it paid some homage to stuff like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Evil Dead, and The Shining, while also keeping a tongue-in-cheek tone. The gore effects were disgusting, the acting and cinematography were good, and the ending was absolutely hilarious. It seems like a love-it-or-hate-it type of movie, but if you like movies like The Evil Dead and Slither, you'll love this.

Didn't offend me as much as I thought it would. It had some interesting ideas that never really flourished, sadly, but there were one or two really cool and creepy scenes. The scene in the hotel was a good one, and there's another scene were the main chick is nailing a door shut, but the camera pans back, and we see that she's actually inside the locked door with the ghost/demon/whatever. The rest was pretty mediocre. The first thirty minutes were painfully boring, but if you can get past that, it's a good way to waste a night with a friend or two.

5/10

Yeah I couldn't get past the beginning. Why did you think it would offend you?

I typically use "offend" to describe movies that are unimaginably atrocious, like Hostel: Part 2 or The Human Centipede.

This film goes to the top of my first-run film list.

Rec 4 is set on a ship in the middle of the ocean this time & thats an inflatable raft engine shes holding.

There is zombies in that film, the 2 nazi girls have zombies chained up & control them. It was a bit of a strange film though!!

"The Crazies" sends you head-first into an appropriately crazy movie. It has great gore and makeup effects, the characters all had good personalities, and the acting and cinematography were great. The middle of the film does get a little slow, and there are some scenes that you just shake your head in disbelief at the plot holes, but this movie has a lot of great action, tension, and emotion.

8/10

I completely agree with you!! I actually have watched it several times; I enjoyed the acting and the tension (even with the random slow parts).

I watched it along time ago and I actually liked it. It was very gory and silly at times but entertaining none the less. I watched the 2nd and 3rd one, I wouldn't bother with them unless you're bored.

STAY ALIVE 2006

The point of this video game is to stay alive because if your character dies in the game...so do you!!! Chilling?? I think not. Cleverly done?? Meh. But its not horrible and the game's back story is gruesome with some cool effects.

But not to worry, I'm not into co-op games.

Gone Girl (2014)
Starts out as a smart thriller but I thought it was too long and didn't like the ending.

REC 4
Worst in the series. Almost felt like I was watching some typical American horror flick. Would've been alright as a stand-alone movie.
But for REC standards this was quite bad.

Wouldn't mind a prequel about the Madeira girl and the priest.
Apparently there's a comic book about it.

Some holiday movies this week:

'Elf' (enjoyable)
'Frozen' (what do you expect, I have a daughter. Good film though)
' A Christmas Carol' (George C. Scott version. My favorite)
'A Muppet Christmas Carol' ( Hysterical, also a favorite)

What don't you like about co-op games?

I played some Duke Nukem 3D custom maps, Half-Life mods co-op, but hardly ever played SP campaigns co-op. Played a ton of Team Game vs AI games, but that's not real co-op of course.

Baron Von Marlon 12-17-2014 01:38 AM

I miss old co-op games like Double Dragon, Streets Of Rage and Final Fight.
Those were some good times.

Great but expected a better ending & few more freaky close up shot or clear view of Mr. Babadook :danger:

SHERLOCK HOLMES (2009). Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have genuine chemistry as Holmes and Dr. Watson and the camera work is often superb in here. Story was a little silly, but enjoyable just the same. Worth checking out and the 2011 sequel was better, in my opinion. ***

It was cool. You know I liked Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows even more. Thought they were both sharp and crafty, especially the sequel.

The Taking Of Deborah Logan (2014)
Meh. Concept had potential but they ruined it.
Spoilers
Could have been an original movie on demonic possession if they just went with a dementia/demonic possession combo.
But the addition of the serial killer/ancient Indian ritual/snake magic ruined it.
I think a movie about the killer would have worked a lot better.
There was enough material for a good story around him. I imagine a mix of Sinister and Deliver Us From Evil.

Michael Cera in a serious movie? This I gotta see.

The Final-it was horrible but I was too committed to turn off when I realized how bad the acting was....part of the After Dark Horrorfest, i thought I had seen them all....when they first came out some of the movies were pretty decent but got shittier and shittier.....

The Others

Did I watch the wrong movie because this was boring as hell. I typically like slower movies like The Babadook and The Exorcist, but at least stuff happened. It had a couple of creepy scenes here and there, but they were never really memorable. The "you're not my daughter scene" just left me with "eh, that was cool, I guess", as well as every other "scary" scene. I also predicted the ending within the first 30 minutes of the movie. This also felt like a very long movie because when the movie wasn't creepy, it was just a lot of uninteresting dialogue. I was expecting a good, suspenseful haunted house movie, but what I got was a forgettable drama.
