[QUOTE=Elvis_Christ;856565]Way to spoil April Fool's Day for everyone who hasn't seen it AMICUS.... how about a spoiler warning huh?
=QUOTE] Sorry, please forgive, am not the brightest star in the sky, I really wasn't thinking, pure stupidity on my part, sorry.:( |
The World's Greatest Sinner is great....Carey is a nutter. Tarintino considered him for the part of Joe Cabolt at one stage..
I watched CRIMEWAVE yesterday and he has a small part in that too.. |
The Dark: was alright, but I don't love Sean Bean so that made the movie so-so.

Only the Brave - This film tells the true story of a WWII Battalion made up of Japanese-American soldiers. While the story of this Battallion is interesting and certainly worth telling I thought the film itself lacked dramatic impact or any real emotional substance. 5/10

The Yakuza (1974). This near classic is wonderful on many levels. First the story is brilliantly layered without appearing to be forced. The secret lives of everyone involved is more than believable, it is only human. This American movie somehow caught the ethic of the Japanese, without glamorizing or vilifying it. The pacing is wonderfully slow, and the head of steam that builds finally blows the lid off in the climax. The acting was strong, with Mitchum and Takakura each giving wonderful performances. As well, the rest of the cast are no slouches. More than just a story about honor, or a lack thereof, redemption seems to sum up the overall theme of this under-appreciated movie. Ashe.

Flame and Citron (2008). A story of two solid though human heroes that fought for a rather pure cause, but through not so pure channels. War, intrigue, and double dealing is nary a fresh subject, but the simplicity, and intensity, of our central characters makes for a great story. Based on real events, this story gives a fairly accurate account of the Danish response to Nazi occupation. The acting was wonderful, and the chemistry between our leads was almost palpable. The direction was strong. And while the camera work might have been a little hyperactive, i did not find it distracting in the least. All in all a wonderful flick from our Danish friends. Merci beaucoup.

La Settima Donna
A home invasion/nun revenge genre piece from Italy in the late 70's. Terrifying and cheesy at different times. A nicely shot piece that should be see by exploitation fans. 7/10 |

Worst Coen brothers movie ever! Talladaga is piss funny though. |
Inglourious Basterds- Not bad. When its good its good, but I found it fairly laboured and self-indulgent at times.
|
Sherlock Holmes - This was thoroughly entertaining from start to finish, Downey Jr and Jude Law were excellent as Holmes and Watson.I thought the recreation of Victorian London was outstanding. 7/10

Koyaanisqatsi: Brilliant. Thought provoking and visually superb, well worth watching for any that haven't seen it. It's the sort of film you can watch and take out of it what you want. Beautiful cinematography and stunning imagery complimented by a quality score.

Kick-Ass (2010)
I was worried at first - doesn't start out particularly strong - but man...once shit starts to hit the fan, it more than lives up to the name. My only gripe is that it was centered around the wrong character. Dave/"Kick-Ass" had his cool moments to be sure, but he was easily the least interesting character in the whole movie. Still, worth seeing for sure. Some of the craziest action scenes I've seen in a long while. |
Also just got back from Kick Ass. Surprisingly faithful to the comics and most of the changes are pretty understandable. There was a major difference in Big Daddy's backstory that I preferred in the comics and Red Mist was badly miscast, but I enjoyed it overall. Fucking crazy fight scenes!
Return, have you read the comics? |
crazy, i didn't even know it was a comic, but then again what do i know; i'm just a girl:rolleyes:
movie i just finished watching was 2LDK was not too impressed had hoped it would have been better... |
Sangre de mi Sangre (2007). This unflinching movie revolves around the desperate plight of the immigrant. The catch words are food and shelter: survival. We see how desperate people take towards desperate measures in order to survive. We cringe and yet try to understand, and we must come away with the notion that those aggressive, exploitative traits that we humans may express has made us survive as a species. The acting was first rate. And though the story revolved around some unbelievable coincidences, the twists and turns nevertheless entertain and add to the story and character development. The ending was unforeseen and perfect. The direction was superb. This was a painfully delightful watch. Merci beaucoup.

That bad? Rue Morgue magazine thought that it was actually pretty fun. |
Bet it was the remake. The original is not so bad for a trashy mindless 80s slasher.
