Beyond Re-Animator:
Pretty cool flick that pales in comparision to the other two entries especially effects wise. But its worth watching just for the end credits haha (I won't spoil them for you but its some funny shit!) |

Oh dear, oh dear....What a dodgy film. Good for a laugh though. |
The Monster Walks
I normally love these cheesy old "haunted house" flicks, but this has got to be one of the worst. Actors in films like this are never good, but I dont think Ive even seen it this bad. On top of that, most of the lines are completly laughable. This was in fact the first "talkie" that the writer ever made, and good Lord it shows. As obvious as it was, I think the ending was the film's high point. The maniac's expression on Mischa Auer's face was very, very convincing. Overall though, this is one bad film. 4/10 PS - On an interesting and unrelated side note, one of the paintings that can be seen briefly in one scene is hanging on a wall in my house. I thought that was very cool to see. |

Monster from a Prehistoric Planet
The old Godzilla movies are by no means a great example of cinema, and this late-60's ripoff is even worse. The story is tired and overused, about a group of scientists and reporters that bring a baby monster back to Japan, and the parents arrive to wreak havoc. Perhaps a subtitled version may have been better, but the dubbing on this version was hilarious. Some of the lines, especially those by "the Publisher" were completly off-track from the facial expressions, which provided plenty of laughs. The monsters looked typical for the era, which is a kinder way of saying that they looked awful. The inevitable destruction of Tokyo seemed to drag on forever, to the point where I found myself fast forwarding through it. Bottom line...avoid it. 3/10 |
