FRIED DILL PICKLES

1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
6 drops hot sauce
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. pepper
3 1/2 c. flour
1 qt. sliced dill pickles
Wesson oil for deep frying

Combine first 5 ingredients, stirring well. Set aside. Combine 3 1/2 cups flour, salt and pepper, stirring well. Dip pickles in milk mixture and dredge in flour mixture, repeat process. Deep fry in hot oil, 350 degrees until pickles float to surface and are golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

When I worked at McD waaaay back when we used to play "hot pickle" which isn't as gay as it sounds...it basically involved dipping pickle slices into the deepfryers, and flinging then at eachothers shirts. It hurt a fair bit but nobody got anything beyond a red mark.

I'm really glad you're getting into the Christmas thing this year, I'm actually starting to get into it, too (which is rare for me)...We are going to make chocolate cookie men and shortbread men cuz we hate gingerbread :p...I may also attempt a chocolate or shortbread house :)

I'm a Christmas nut, and despite all the horrible things that seem to be piling up I figure keeping a positive attitude is key and will help people out. My positive attitude lasts from the end of October until Jan. 1st... then I revert back into an evil puppy. I LOVE good gingerbread, nice and tangy. These real sugarplums are something else... I don't think I like them very much but it's a good thing to say you've tried. Fennel, anise seed, caraway, and cardamom in a "dessert"!? It's anarchy. Also waiting on Murderdoll to send me bar mix, maybe someday. :)

I just had an awesome idea, and I can't wait to implement it.

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to make a gingerbread house, but without gingerbread, so maybe chocolate or shortbread...Then I started thinking about how I would transport it to my mother's, because I could definitely see the sides falling down, and everything turning into a huge mess...So, while trying to figure out how to keep the sides standing, I thought maybe I could fill the inside with something solid, then just stick the sides on.

That spawned my completely new idea

I'm making a 3 layer, red velvet cake, with cream cheese icing between every layer...It will be red and white striped...I will cut it into a perfect cube, and add a cookie roof...I will decorate the entire thing in various chocolates (M&Ms, peppermint striped Hershey Kisses, and whatever else I think of)...The white icing will make the roof snowy, and it will droop over the eaves.

I will make Holly leaves with green icing, and holly berries with red mini M&Ms...I can't wait to do this!...I will definitely post a picture...Even if it ends up looking like a horrid mess :D


I will still be making the cookiemen, too
