Jigsaw Killer 08-01-2014 07:00 PM

It's been a long time since I saw it, but I remember finding it to be creepy and I liked the setting of it. I really need to see it again, been years.

I remember thinking it was pretty creepy too when it first came out but watched it again a little while back and it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered.

Jigsaw Killer 08-01-2014 11:24 PM

I haven't seen it in a veyr long time. It'll be interesting to see if it holds up when I eventually rewatch it, which I've been meaning to.

I saw it for a second time recently and felt it still was creepy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the hints at the scale of the horror the ship had unearthed leaving enough to your imagination to make it memorable.

Jigsaw Killer 08-03-2014 07:55 PM

I definitely want to re-visit it when I can. I remember it being creepy and having some pretty gruesome scenes in it, too.

Jigsaw Killer 08-06-2014 01:11 AM

The new Leprechaun coming out reminds me that I still haven't finished that series. I've seen all but 4. The first is genuinely pretty entertaining and I quite like parts 2 and even 6, but I found 3 and 5 to be so-so. I do want to re-visit them sometime and go through them all. A lot of people hate them but I find they're enjoyable movies to kill some boredom to, if not exactly classics.

horcrux2007 08-06-2014 05:47 AM

4 is my personal favorite.

Jigsaw Killer 08-06-2014 05:14 PM

4 seems to be a lot of peoples' pick for the worst of the series but I'll give it a shot. I find the series is cheesy fun.

Jigsaw Killer 08-06-2014 08:23 PM

On the subject of Horror TV shows, I recently bought the complete Tales From The Darkside series on DVD and will be going through them all soon. The show is of up and down quality but does have many genuinely great episodes and has a low-budget charm to it.

It should be interesting seeing which episodes hold up the best, but I know for sure Halloween Candy will always be my favorite. Directed by Tom Savini who also directed the (IMO very underrated) Night Of The Living Dead remake.

It is definitely the worst, but it's the most entertaining.

Jigsaw Killer 08-07-2014 01:44 PM

I don't even remember 3 and 5 particularly well, so re-visiting them all should be interesting. There's a Blu-ray set with all of them coming out next month, I'll be snagging that. Even if some of the films aren't particularly good, I enjoy the first two and the sixth a lot, so having those three in HD will be a plus.

They are! Love them!! I own the first one, still need to buy the 2nd one.

I am a HUGE fan of the Resident Evil movies, I own them all!! I played the video games and I know it's not as close in parts but I thought it was very entertaining. Honestly, Hollywood is known to be off when they makes movies from books or video games. ::big grin::

Zombie 4:After Life was terrible but Zombie 5: Killing Birds was really fun I enjoyed it a lot. I'd definitely say Killing Birds is the one I would recommend most.

Not seen any of them I'll have to look out for them

I enjoyed all three I think I enjoyed the 2nd most but I watched them close together and the lines blur a bit for me. I'd go with the 2nd maybe then the 1st as my faves. I'll re watch them at some point.

I didn't know that there were 3 Cold Preys????

I agree it's much better than the first, but The Purge thus far is only two films.

LOL

Jigsaw Killer 08-18-2014 10:12 AM

So far another one hasn't been announced yet but I'm sure it's coming. Should be interesting to see how the concept is done in additional films.

Jigsaw Killer 08-20-2014 10:31 AM

On the subject of Horror TV, I've been going through the complete Tales From The Darkside series and finished with the first season. Inside The Closet is definitely the best episode of the first season IMO, going through Season 2. The show can be of slightly up and down quality but does have many truly good episodes.

Solarmist 08-20-2014 03:51 PM

My faves in no special order other than the 1st one mentioned:

House of a 1000 Corpses
Evil Dead II
Maniac Cop II
Scream II
Resident Evil (II) Apocalypse
Saw III
Phantasm 1
Nightmare on Elm Street 1
Return of the Living Dead 1
Hostel 1
Wrong Turn 1
VHS 1
Joy Ride 1
Blair Witch 1

Jigsaw Killer 08-20-2014 06:23 PM

You added some good ones, though some are only two movies so far like Blair Witch and HO1KC/The Devil's Rejects.

Jigsaw Killer 08-21-2014 11:43 AM

Another series I remembered was Subspecies. It's been years since I last saw any of them and don't think I even saw them all. I remember watching them on cable all the time when they aired back then. Not sure which my favorite was, definitely a series I'd like to re-visit sometime.

I'm a big fan of the Subspecies franchise, and the Full Moon franchise generally. Radu---the head vampire---is one of film's best. They decline in quality over the sequels, as you'd expect, but not by much. They are actually all on one DVD now for cheap on Amazon.

Jigsaw Killer 08-22-2014 01:32 PM

I'll definitely re-visit them, someday. I remember Radu being an awesome vampire and the films having some pretty impressive effects and set designs, moreso given that they were quite low-budget. I like a lot of Full Moon's work myself, I grew up watching much of their work and I've got a nostalgic fondness for them, even if some of their work objectively isn't very good.

Jigsaw Killer 08-23-2014 01:23 PM

Having finished with all four Tales From The Darkside seasons recently, here's my favorite episode per season:

1 - Inside The Closet
2 - Halloween Candy
3 - Seasons Of Belief
4 - Family Reunion

The show can be of slight hit and miss quality, but it does have a lot of excellent episodes that make it worth the while.

Jigsaw Killer 08-25-2014 02:49 AM

I've been curious to check out The Tombs Of The Blind Dead series. Never seen them but they sound quite interesting. It seems unanimous that the first is the best.

Damn Heathen 08-25-2014 04:47 AM

Alien
Bordello of Blood
Dream Warriors
Final Destination 3
Hannibal
Hellraiser
Jason Lives
Scream
TCM remake
The Evil Dead

The BEST: The Return of Michael Myers

That'd be my list too, with the possible substitution of "Trick or Treat" for "Inside the Closet". I'll have to rewatch both. The witch makeup in Trick is top notch.

Yes - I know, but aren't 2 or more still considered a series?

Besides - I thought they were some great movies worth mentioning like VHS which I thought was a bit creepy ... same with the Blair Witch.

Jigsaw Killer 08-25-2014 03:24 PM

They probably count although I was thinking movie series with three or more entries. Duologies could be added, though.

I agree!! I found myself at the theater feeling more connected to the 2nd one. I have to admit that I am hoping for at least one more......

I want to see one more to end the series. I want it to showcase the first ever Purge. That would be interesting.

Jigsaw Killer 08-25-2014 08:18 PM

I'd like at least two more Purge films, a sequel to conclude the series and a prequel detailing the very first Purge.

Solarmist 08-27-2014 03:04 PM

I wish they could do a Hostel pt4, but in a European setting like the first two -or- Planet Terror pt2, but I doubt they could ever top pt1 ... excellent movie with an all star cast, some great gore scenes, and cool music.

Please don't make Rubber pt2 - I couldn't barely get through the first one!
Have we gone so far that the villain in a horror movie can be an old tire(?)

Its kinda hard to describe because of the meta plot going on but besides that plot theres a sentient tire killing people

Saw the first two Hostel films and didn't care for either. I'm in no rush to see the third.

Jigsaw Killer 08-31-2014 03:51 PM

With Puppet Master, I've seen up to the first seven movies. I love 1-4, 5 isn't bad but 6 and 7 are terrible. I never saw past that, and from the sound of it the series got worse with the subsequent films.
