Hmmmm. Who is somebody that knows Ferretchucker could have just come out to their parents? That's a thinker...

ferretchucker 08-08-2010 09:38 AM

Thank you guys. Nope, never had a girlfriend newb. It was an awkward conversation to have with the folks but I definitely feel better for it. :) Now posher isn't the only one!

_____V_____ 08-08-2010 09:51 AM

But...you aren't even 18 yet!

Errr...Congratulations, I guess.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 08-08-2010 09:54 AM

posher isn't gay. :p

I will have questions later to test your true gayness. >_>

ferretchucker 08-08-2010 10:04 AM

There neednt be an age requirement for knowing one's self. I'm sure you knew you were straight years before you were even my age.

And I look forward to these questions, still, probably better brush up on my knowledge of Musicals and interior design...

_____V_____ 08-08-2010 10:23 AM

I think our cultural upbringing has more to do with this than anything else. The Hindu religion and society teaches us morals which has made most of us devout straight people, and pretty faithful husbands/wives. You won't find many divorce cases in India, and neither will you find many gay people.

Maybe that is why we are a race of intensely devoted romantics, who hold their passions and promises in their highest esteems, more than anything else. Straight practical thinking is out of the window most of the time.

Rarely will you find an Indian who is gay, more so an Indian female who is gay. More rare will be any Indian who comes out in the open with that fact. Maybe those who were, hid that fact well in the years of Indian history so far. It is a very, very taboo subject. The modern influx of Western thinking, however, has been influential in this. We have had some people coming out in the past 5-6 years. But still, it is a pretty taboo subject.

My dad didnt even say that much. He just got up and walked out, but he's alright now. Just needed some time to think.

You never know, though. You might have a lot of people suffering in silence, not knowing that the option existed. You would think though that a religion that believes in reincarnation and pays homage to both a masculine and feminine principle would be very accepting of homosexuality because the soul has had a multitude of different experiences and has a manifold nature.

ferretchucker 08-08-2010 11:27 AM

I think this issue is that certain social views of the times wherein these religions were founded, when people were less understanding, were blurred into the religion.

You've always struck me as being intelligent and mature beyond your years. Kudos to you for taking that step, and good luck.

I don't think Zero coming out is necessary. Monkeys' entire diet is based around a phallic fruit.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 08-08-2010 07:41 PM

question #1: what are your thoughts on angela lansbury?
question #2: do you take ecstasy?
question #3: have you ever thought of shaving your head and dying your hair leopard print?
question #4: who is the hottest guy you've ever seen on tv?
question #5: do you own roller blades?

If I were to play devils advocate I would, at this point, go into a detailed account of the wonders of the female form and all you are now missing out on, all those lovely bumpy bits and curves in all the right places. However, Im not, so I won't.

Well done for having the stones to have that conversation with the folks so early, now you can be completely honest with them and true to yourself.

Nuff reespek, FC! (I believe thats how the cool kids say it  )

I would tend to agree with this especially since homosexual sex has only just been made legal...Not coming out for fear of arrest is a pretty good reason..

That really says it there, eh?
It's an upbringing/conditioning thing, for not only faithfulness, marriage and monogamy to be considered moral, but also ?straightness? etc.
It's very ingrained, the whole stigma of gayness being wrong.
Not commenting if this is bad or good, just saying that it's not likely to change until a few moulds are broken.
Religion, not big on change. The more religion, the more conformity to the common theme.
Don't get me wrong V, I don't consider you (or Indians in general) anti-gay or anything, just making an observation really.

The sex has pretty much always been legal in most US states. It's the marriage that's slowly becoming legal.

That's right kids, heartless cold sex with multiple partners is fine but god forbid being apart of a monogamous, loving, stable relationship!

Psh. Paul Walker? What about Neil Patrick Harris!?

I mean... Oh. Paul Walker. That's cool.
