Amour (2012)

Not my best Michael Haneke film but definitely 2012's one of the best as the film comes with a very emotionally moving story about Georges and Anne...an old, loving couple who gradually confronts & crosses the line between love & tolerance after Anne becomes partially paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Though general viewer may not appreciate the slow burn or bit art-house nature of the film but Haneke fan won't be disappoint for his usual rich & beautiful direction and the film's cold & dark atmospheric mood. Both the actors on the lead did a great job, particularly Emmanuelle Riva (85), who has become the oldest nominee ever in the Best Actress category in Academy Award and I would love to see her win this time.

Can't wait to see this.
It's also funny how this year we have the oldest Best Actress nominee, as well as the youngest, Quvenzhané Wallis for Beasts of the Southern Wild.

I have Beasts of the Southern Wild queued up at Netflix. Should be getting it in a couple of days.

How old was Jessica Tandy when she was nominated for an Oscar?

EDIT: I got the answer: she was 80 when she won the Oscar for Driving Miss Daisy.

Loved it.

Ferox, see if you can bundle this together with your Frankenweenie viewing. Should make for a good double bill.

Which do you like better; Monster House or Hotel Transylvania?

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 (2013)

Last night just seen this final installment of Best Animated BATMAN flick(s) DC made so far and enjoyed the awesomeness of a killer story by Frank Miller. After watching this, even TDKR now seems like nothing but a mediocre story.

I remember liking Monster House immensely, and even reco'd it as a great Halloween watch. But it's been awhile and I have to revisit it. I would say I liked both of them equally, and both are great to watch during the festive season.
