Full Disclosure Report.

Thought I'd share this other neat little extra with Saw fans, from the first movie's Special Edition DVD.

That's my ranking too. I agree that VI was quite good, and IV pretty good too, especially with the return of Donnie Wahlberg, but the first three had the best twists at the end. Although III was actually a double-twist, which some might say was almost a parody of itself (or at least would make a good SNL sketch... "Saw XIX, the movie with 18 twists at the end!")

I really like the series though and how the movies intertwine. Probably my favorite horror series. Most other horror series have a few total stinkers, but I didn't think Saw deteriorated too much. The final chapter could have ended more interestingly though, and the public trap at the beginning was a little silly.

The public trap in 7 was pretty pointless and was pretty much just there for gore's sake. But I think put together with 6 the movie makes for a decent finale to the saga.

I always thought interquels set in-between the events of some of the past sequels would've been cool to have seen, and there's much room for it too since there's a six-month gap between Saw II and Saw III+beyond.

I watched all part of saw but version in 3D was boring and uninteresting for me.

I didn't seen the seventh one in 3D, but from the looks of the 2D version there was hardly anything worthwhile with the 3D that warranted the extra cash to see it as such.

Saw 1 was a very good movie. No that gory actually but quite intense and creepy... especially the scene when the "pig-head" was hidden in the closet in the mid movie.

Gore and suspens were very pertinently handled. But maybe I felt like scary because it was the first episod then kind of a discovery and moreover I was quite young in 2004 (13 years old, and I remember I was not totally confidend after having seen it).

I stopped watching them after the 4th one. IMO The story ended at 3 with the death of Jigsaw. I thought that the first three (especially the first one) were well above par examples of the genre but the fourth one, for me, was unengaging and rote. Out of the first three my favourite scare/trap/scene was the chase in the lair in the first one where the cop gets his head blown off by the hidden shotgun. Especially in the unrated cut.

The series improves after the fourth one IMO, I'd definitely recommend you give them a chance. 6 in particular is very good.

Personally, I am not a big fan of the torture genre. I heard that any beyond two should be explored with caution (in other words, the series is not really that good after two). I heard that six was really terrible. I thought the first Saw was brilliant and the second one was pretty good, but was missing something. Consequently, I view it as good, but that's all. I have not seen any after two.

I'll get around to a few of them somewhere down the line Im sure. I agree that one bad sequel does not a series ruin. Just look at the F13th films (well...three bad sequels in that case imo), but if I could sit through Jason Goes to Hell, I can get through a few more Saw flicks. Lol
