yeah she was incredible in both of these.
she's probably my favorite rising actress.

she's in a movie called an american crime based off of the true story of sylvia lykens that apparently came out last year (although i never heard, read, or saw anything about it advertising-wise).

I think this is the movie that's based on the Jack Ketchum book The Girl Next Door...which is based on a true crime that happened in Indiana.
Some people call it the worst case of child abuse.
It's a pretty messed up book...the real story is way harsher.
They also have The Girl Next Door movie...based on the same book but Ketchum was involved with this one.
I really want to see AC.

I think Juno sucked, and I'll give my reasons.

- It tries too hard to be artsy. I hate art films that are too pretentious and not self-aware. "Garden State" is a movie that ISN'T like that. It too is an art film, but it manages to skip all the bullshit and just be a MOVIE.

Why Juno tries too hard, and ends up sucking:

"It began with a chair." - first line.
What the fuck began with a chair? They had sex on a couch. This line is an example of being "artsy", but in all honesty, it means absolutely NOTHING. Terrible writing.

- Walking around with Sunny D.
- Completely retarded music.
- Orange Tic-Tacs.
- Hamburger Phone.
- "It ended with a chair."

Once again, these are examples of it TRYING to be artsy, but it fails. It's just random bullshit that tries to have meaning... I think today's definition of making an art-film is just "throwing together as many weird things as possible, and hope to be original and different".. and that's very sad.

Hell, the academy even fell for it. How this movie is nominated for Best Picture, I'll never know. That's probably the WORST choice for a nomination I've EVER seen.

Watch Garden State.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA! Nice one.

Looks like I'm not seeing this movie then, if only to protest lame artsy films like this.

EDIT: as an aside, I think Michael Cera better start expanding his horizons in acting a bit more. Below is a sum up of all the roles he has played:

Arrested Development: Awkward teen

Superbad: Awkward teen

Juno: Awkward teen

I like the kid, but he seems about as versatile as Keanu Reeves.
