This is really debatable, but I'll give my interpretation of the ending, which may very well be completely wrong. After Ichi kills the little boy's father (I forget his name), he goes into a state of near-catatonic psychosis, and is severely beaten, and possibly killed, by the little boy as Kakihara looks on. Throughout the film, Kakihara had been searching out Ichi, but he didn't just want to fight. He wanted Ichi to kill him. Upon seeing that Ichi is no longer capable of killing, he drives his weapons into his own brain, causing the hallucination that led to his death. Jijii's purpose in life was to destroy Kakihara's gang. With this mission fulfilled, he no longer has a reason to live, and hangs himself.

Awesome movie. You know Tarantino's seen it a dozen times too.

Can you explain Fred's morphing into the younger guy in Lost Highway while you're at it?

Watched it tonight, thought it was a lot more coherant than I was lead to believe and in the directors cut some great gory scenes. I have my own opinion about the ending but I want to wait until I see it a few more times.

I remember reading somewhere that even Lynch couldn't explain that movie.

Great film, typical blood n guts u come to expect from manga. Think i enjoyed Battle Royale more but that was easier to watch than Ichi

just bought the uncut one yesterday.

I keep hearing reviews and such about this movie being awesome.

Is it worth renting or buying?

Looks too "ching chang" for me, but I think I still would like it.
