Ju-On: Review!

I watched this movie last night and I wasnt expecting much. However, I was surprised by it. The movie builds a lot of suspense and the plot works very well. I heard people compare this movie to the Grudge and kill Ju-On because the special effects cant compare. But I think the spooky lil boy who looked like he had played with a bottle of baby powder was still frightening compared to any of today's special effects. As well as the lady crawling down the stairs. And by the way, the sound effects in this movie is phenomenal and uses it very well. I highly recommend it and I already put The Grudge (American version) and Ju-On 2 on my rental list. Im hearing bad thing about Ju-On 2 because its like a summarization of part 1. What Ju-On movies should I definetly see? I know of 5 of em so far. probably more.

I havent seen any of the japanese originals, but the Grudge was a huge disappointment.

No, only 5 so far until Shimizu makes his second american Grudge movie. But if you have seen Ju-on, I will recomend Ju-on the grudge & especially Ju-on the grudge 2. Itīs the most entertaining and with the biggest budget. I havnīt seen The american The Grudge, so i canīt recomend it yet.

i rented ju-on from library... it says Ju-On on the cover. i went on different message board and found out that the movie i saw is probably the Ju-On Grudge. It begins with social worker entering the house and finding the old lady in the messed up house. nevertheless, it was good.

dug up this dusty old thread because i finally saw The Grudge and I'm still marvelling over how good i thought it was.

I didnt find it in the least bit confusing at all ... it just kept going back in time to explain 'what happened to the last guy'

my wife was hanging from the ceiling half the movie - completely scared the shit out of her ... and i have to admit, after seeing Ju-on, it wasnt like i didnt know what was coming - but i jumped about 3 times just the same ..

I never jump at movies.

To me - i would have assumed that this movie would be every horror lovers dream ... tons of scares and the creepiest atmosphere in any movie in a long time...

I was impressed !

I saw Ju-On before this movie so I kinda knew what to expect. Nevertheless, i still found it spooky in situations and would even give it a nod over Ju-On. I have Ju-On in my collection and would probably add this movie to it later on.. Thumbs up!

not a chance ! I cant believe you didnt like it !

when i think of all the other bullshit out there that passes for horror .... this was definately a bright spot for me.
I had it for ages - couldnt get excited to see it because of the bad press it was getting in here ... i was really suprised at the quality of the film.

i'd rather see an unknown in place of SMG's character but it wasnt that distracting.

the grugde... ugh...

i watched alien last night and was 10 times more creeped out than with this... but yeah, to each his/her own.
