"Blood creek" (2009) 5-6/10

Quite repetitive, but had a few nice gore scenes. Boring zombie tho.

It's American...

Probably a slasher ghost story. :D

Carrie

I never get tired of this movie!

Angra 02-12-2010 04:18 PM

"End of the line" 7-8/10

First half was definitely better than the last, but the story and pacing was quite good. Had some effective scares, some nice gore effects and one of these typical Stephen King asshole characters. Yes, this movie had a little bit of everything.

It just ended when the story hit its climax.. :(

The Cottage (2008)

I thought it was pretty fun and would definitely recommend it.

Psycho II

It was pretty good

The Wolfman (2010)

Pretty standard Hollywood fare, but I thought it was quite fun.
Great Gothic atmosphere, incredible locations, and special effects by Rick Baker (some good gore scenes).
Overall, a pretty good theatre movie.

Sure took some time to get started, but it was never boring.

The ridiculous twist at the very end ruined everything for me.

Van Diemen's Land (2009)

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/739...emenslandn.jpg

The true story of Alexander Pearce, Australia's most notorious convict. In 1882, several convicts escaped custody to brave the harsh conditions of Van Diemen's Land in Tasmania. Pearce and seven others were faced with the cruel wilderness of the landscape and limited resources. As days passes with hunger, the others had no choice but to slaughter their fellow man and then devour them so they would be able to continue on and not starve to death. Much of the tension throughout the film is derived from each man knowing that he is at risk of being the next person to be killed.

Kinda slow paced but pretty dark & grim also. A well made film with some nice cinematography.

"Let sleeping corpses lie" 7-8/10

Good old english zombie flick.

Wonder if "28 days/weeks later" got their "zombie" eyes from this movie.

Naaah... the story wasn't that good and the nazi super zombie wasn't ass kicking enough.

But you don't see a horse scene like that every day. :D

Sublime (2007). You will either love or hate this one. i loved it. A slow burner to be sure, the way the movie unfolds overuses a classic storytelling technique brilliantly. The atmosphere was cryptic and creepy. Nurse Zoe was smokin' hot. i think that all movies should have a nurse Zoe... The story itself was nothing new, but it had a style all its own, which coupled with the wonderful camera-work and great audio made for a great watch. The acting and direction were all solid. Gore fans will get at least a touch of heaven towards the end, but will likely want more. This was almost America's version of the ever-so-creepy Japanese flick Infection, and in a good way. Mercie beaucoup.

Man with the Screaming Brain. Ted Rami & Stacy Keach make for a decent double act.

An idiotic mess of a film. For the most part its all over the place and there are plenty of slow points. It's hammed up and over the top but not always in an entertaining way. I guess it's kinda fun and if you appreciate Campbell's off the wall sense of humor it has its moments, but for the most part its neither here nor there. You feel like all the actors involved are working to there own agenda. Worth watching if you're a fan, but not worth going out of your way to see. It's slapstick B-movie fun that has its moments, but its also fairly tedious and laboured for the most part.

Ditto for both.

But have you checked the director's interview of SUBLIME? His interpretation regarding the story was kinda really weird!...as far I remember he was telling about political & diplomatic policies & undertakings of American Govt. & how the citizens & other countries suffer for that...blah...blah..blah!! I found this interview on the special features of the dvd.

Anyway, I hate it except that too good looking nurse.

Last seen movie: Onibaba (1964)

As a feudal war rages in 14th-century Japan, those left behind are struggling to survive. The wife and the mother of a soldier make their meager living by preying upon hapless samurai who come their way, killing them and selling their armor for food. When a friend of the soldier returns to the women's hut, they learn the fate of their soldier, and are forced to deal with this survivor. Tensions build as the young widow gives in to her loneliness, and the older woman fears abandonment, feels jealousy, and plots revenge.

Mon Oncle (1958)

Rediculously funny. This is the warm center of Tati's life work, the crossroads between the silly human comedies that came before it and the complex commentaries on modernity that came after; wonderfully, this film takes a little from both recipes and the result is a perfect concoction which is always entertaining but also thought-provoking. Some of the finest Tati moments are contained within this movie, including several choice scenes involving bored kids, a fish fountain, modern kitchens and garage doors. Tati's immortal character, M. Hulot, is so easy to laught at, but also to connect with. His blundering misadventures are totally hysterical, but there is something to be said about the plausible and tragic possibility of being left behind by an always-evolving world.

The House of the Devil (2009)

"They don't write 'em like that anymore". Ti West gets it; and, thanks to his passion for horror, his understanding of the intracacies that make it work, and an extremely creative directorial vision, he has helmed the most exquisite horror film of the last decade, at the very least. This is high art, the kind of slow-burn, character driven terror story that simply isn't told today, thanks to a supply and demand process fueled by a mass with no patience and no desire to experience real suspense. Though on its surface the film might start off looking like an homage, or a simple throwback to the genre, West quickly reassures us that he isn't just playing games. While he does nod to the nostalgic pleasures of horror generations past (an incredibly fun and effective score by Jeff Grace, eye-popping gritty cinematography by Eliot Rockett), this is a serious and effective story on its own. I cannot say enough good things about this movie, and I cannot express the importance I feel that filmmakers and films like these have amongst a world of trash.

FINALLY saw Avatar.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...vie-poster.jpg

And, wow. Seriously, wow. As cliche as it sounds, it's not "just" your average action movie, it's an experience. I'm really glad that I went to see it in IMAX. The world is vivid, the characters are real, the beasties are fantastic, and the action is straight-out jaw-dropping at some points. I even got myself carried away with the love story and war struggle and found myself getting teary-eyed... And I loved it. Not only was this movie fun, but it actually made me FEEL something.

A lot of critics go after its substance and story. Sure, it's cliched. Sure, it's a little Fern Gully. That's the kind of stuff that I usually cling on to when criticizing movies like this, but in this case, Avatar was so incredibly stunning and engrossing that I absolutely did not care. I thoroughly enjoyed myself start to finish. The best time I've had at the movies probably since My Bloody Valentine 3D (hey, say what you will about the connotations of that statement; that movie was a damn blast). And I want to go and see it again.

I highly recommend that you go and see this in the movies. It's fun, stunning, and a damn good action flick. I actually thought that the political statement was daring, and not too heavy-handed (hell, it was REFRESHING to see). Not to mention there's a LOT to geekasm about; the "science," the monsters, the animation... So I think there's enough in there for anyone. ONLY downside: I thought that it was a little long and could have used some editing. But that's ok; there was more than enough to keep me entertained from start to finish.

4/5.
