I've seen 28 Days, and thought it was better than Z. Having seen most of the big 'zombie' films, I thought 28 Days was decent. Did you think 28 Weeks was better or worse than 28 Days?

Looking forward to seeing this.

Thought both were decent-took my daughter and her first serious boyfriend to DAYS. Didn't see WEEKS until 2008 and thought it was really good and a rare sequel that is better than the original source

CRONOS (1993)-Fine debut by Guillermo Del Toro that looks great, has a sensitive portrayal by a child actor and does a unique take on vampirism. Well worth seeing with a stellar funny turn by Ron Perlman and cool seeing Claudio Brooks again-enjoyed him in here almost as in SAMSON IN THE WAX MUSEUM (1964)! ****

I'll put it in white to avoid spoiling it for others:
-I think I was expecting something different.
The archaeology approach was cool. But I didn't like the way magic and Hell were used in the concept.
That and some stuff didn't make sense to me or was too vague for my taste:

-They take the safe route in the beginning, the way Papillion had taken before and still things go wrong so they have to take the evil passage.
-They didn't seem that surprised when The Mole, a guy who's been missing for two years, suddenly turns up. He says he knows the way out but for some reason he still there.
-Who was the person who appeared and disappeared during the guided tour?
-What was the deal with the hooded guy? Was he the creator of the stone?
-Who was the woman who left the dancing and who was also the priestess?
The creator's wife?

I think it would've been better for this movie if they used creatures, made and controlled by the alchemist who lives and dwells in the catacombs.
Until the one who solves the riddle comes to claim the stone.
Kind of a horror Indiana Jones on a smaller scale.
The wife being someone who lures victims to the tunnels to feed the creatures or something like that.

Best werewolf movie I've seen in a long time.
Along with Wolfcop but that's less serious.
Looking forward to Late Phases. Should be out soon.

Saw 5

I for one have enjoyed all the Saw films I've seen. This one continues the story nicely and some awesome kills.

As Above, So Below (2014)

http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...s111e4161.jpeg

Catacombs beneath the Paris is really a great premise to explore for any Horror filmmaker or writer; so here's they got a great premise as well as a cool idea to treat it with an Indiana Jones sort of twisted treasure hunt story & blend that all with horror flavors! But sadly it didn't live up to its full potential, IMO. And one of the reasons was scares weren't that much impressive. In terms of horror elements, I expected it'd be lot more darker & creepy. I'm not sure but I guess our fellow HDCian BV Marlon's idea to put some strange creatures into the mix would have worked better.
Anyway, it's got a good pace & the cast did a nice job too. Overall, it was entertaining but not as great as I expected.

**SPOILER AHEAD**
The way they came out from the catacombs, I thought they'd be in a different world or dimension!

Thumb resize.

"Asylum" (2014) 1/10

I wouldn't call Asylum unwatchable, as the movie (in the movie) actually looks pretty good. What i definitely WOULD call it is unlistenable due to the input of 2 painfully unfunny dudes talking over the ENTIRE MOVIE!!! It's like an Audio Commentary feature on the dvd you would never want to listen to. Worst idea ever..

And it even contain some known actors. WTF??!!?!?!!

Angra 11-20-2014 12:27 AM

"St Vincent" 7/10

Neither original or overly exciting story, but I would be surprised if Bill Murray didn't get concidered an Oscar nomination for his performance as St Vincent.

Thumb resize.

"Django Unchained" 8-9/10

Speaking of good performances. All actors just shined in this one.

Loooved Decaprio. He should play a racist scumbag more often. :D

The Quiet Ones I agree with but Suspiria? Boring and stupid? Suspirias a great movie. Very subtle and creepy.

Yeah, knew I would hear it from somebody on here because I remember a lot of you had seen Suspirias and liked it and that's why I finally gave it a try. Honestly, I just couldn't get into it. I seem to be on a bad roll with movies right now::confused::

Have you seen Rover (2014)? I'm not sure what I think of it yet.

Ferox13 11-21-2014 03:09 AM

Rover (2014) was great - not quiet as good as Animal Kingdom but a very solid film.

tfantasy 11-21-2014 12:58 PM

Rover was okay, but I have def seen better! I think it was a good role for Robert Pattinson. I can't remember if I have ever seen Animal Kingdom but I went ahead and added it to my dvd queue cause it sounds good.

Any more suggestions Ferox??

For grim Australian films? Try the The Snowtown Murders or The Horseman.

For an older, lesser know film, Lady Stay Dead is pretty good.

So there's this girl, and this house, and something evil, and a woman, and her sister, and...
Slow, boring, dumb.
