Somebody has to test them to make sure they're safe for said trick-or-treaters.

Grilled raisin toast with a little light cream cheese, sliced strawberries, dutch cinnamon and some olive oil.
It's nice, though I'd have rather marscapone here - the cream cheese kind of sways it a little towards savoury...doesn't quite work...but hey. It's breakfast. I'm locked in.

Cup of tea.

The Bloofer Lady 12-21-2015 04:00 PM

Smoked meat on toasted light rye bread and potato chips. Handful of mini licorice allsorts.

I made a pizza at the joint I deliver for before I came home.
Extra sauce, a few random drops of pesto.
Some grilled red capsicum and raw chopped green capsicum.
Some anchovies
Diced ham
Spanish onion
Pineapple
About 5 slices of spicy pepperoni
4 Tiger prawns
Some small cubes of fetta cheese
Few random herbs on top.

Turned out pretty well, and good thing we didn't have to cook or prepare anything more for the Christmas crap...

I'd love to try that! I love trying different topping combos and recipe/restaurants.

Capsicum, you say? So, you're from SE Asia? Australia?

cheebacheeba 12-24-2015 11:29 PM

Australia, yeah.
So bell peppers, yes?

Disconser 12-29-2015 05:56 AM

Whole wheat bread with tomatoes and hot chocolate.

Chevalier 12-29-2015 08:16 PM

I went to a Mediterranean restaurant near work and ate a chicken pita sandwich with a Greek salad on the side. I also got a sample of baklava.

We went out to have a b'day lunch.

I had my regular (as in, b'day regular) pint of "nice" beer - this time I went with Kilkenny. Smoothe. Delicious, clean and refreshing as always.

Margerita pizza...it was shitty...too little sauce, too much cheese, and a few leaves of basil on the damn thing doesn't cut it for herbal content and seasoning.

Shared part of a meal of some carved roasted pork, gravy, pumpkin, potatoes, apple sauce. Yeah I mean it was nice. Stock standard, but nice. Who doesn't love a decent roast dinner?
Nothing to write home about but nothing bad to say.
In fact, we ordered too much so took more than half home for River.

Salt and pepper squid with some kind of...I guess they were trying to emulate thai spices...dipping sauce.
The sauce was ok. Needed more chilli and maybe some tamarind, kaffir lime.
I can't not do this now when I eat out, I analyse food too much.
The coating on the squid could have leaned a little more towards pepper...but it was light, there wasn't a lot of absorbed fat on it.
It came with a mixed crunchy salad that didn't do much flavour wise but added a little texture and freshness...theme wise they could have thrown in some bean sprouts and mint leaves, but it was ok.

The squid though - was absolutely NAILED. Done to perfection...and there is a pretty small window in which that can be achieved...it was just one of those occasions you bite into something and it's everything it should be. Excellent.

At home...

Spal made a cake last night.
Chocolate, with purple vanilla light buttercream icing and a few different types, including choc coated, of popping candy. It was fun to eat, and had extra, good quality cocoa mixed in, so the chocolate ratio was pleasing to me.

Had a half a can of coke, will probably continue to say "fuck it" to my no soda rule for the remainder of the day.

Just ate a single piece of chicken from some frozen organic baby/little kid meal.
Acceptable amount of flavour, easy to bite, palatable. I can see why a small child would like this.

Tonight, since it's hot we'll be having something cold.
Crackers, smoked salmon with lemon, avocado, kale coleslaw, tomatoes, some brie we picked up earlier, some hommous...just a bit of a "plate" of stuff.
I like this kind of meal.

I'm assuming throughout the remainder of the evening there might be some chai and/or tea as well.

anglewitch 01-21-2016 10:45 AM

I ate 4 fingers off of my right hand this morning.

Bison? Was this the first time you've had it?

No we go out of our way to find good meat. Im a huge fan of trying different stuff. We make most of our ground beef foods out of bison. This was my first time cooking a steak in a pan with garlic herb infused butter though. It was exquisite.

We do Elk, Boar, Ostrich, and once Kangaroo. We like to eat as many poor innocent animals as we can.
