REPO:THE GENETIC OPERA (2008). Not a big opera fan, but can dig it when there is a compelling unusual storyline and a LOT of gruesomeness! Really good turns by Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega and Sarah Brightman has an incredible voice. ***1/2

Ghosthunters 2016

3/10

It was too slow. The cinematography was meh. The acting was meh. I tried fast forwarding through it, but I just become too bored/annoyed so I gave up. It could have been great, but too much of it was pedestrian.

Haunter of the Dark - Found footage flick in Russian with subtitles. Great location, really bad special effects towards the end. Russians seem to do better at these. Or maybe they have better abandoned buildings. I feel like I should like more of these, because I like the urban exploration thing in real life, but so many of these Found Footage / Haunted Hospital movies are just terrible. And there are TONS of them.

Where did you find this movie?

And have you seen The Tunnel (2011)? Not sure if it counts as urban exploration but it's set in an old tunnel/sewer system and I think it's one of the better ff movies.

The latest "Star Trek".

It was ok.
Felt somehow lacking compared to the first two...a bit like a direct-to-dvd sequel I found.
It's a fun movie, and again captures the ST universe quite well.
Seems like the cast might be getting a bit sick of their roles or something.
Bad Guy motivation was lacking...and there was a very big plot hole there...

Great effects. The space stuff felt like a slight step backwards though.
Karl Urban continues to nail his character more than anyone.
Too bad Chekov was more or less a background character in Antons last outing as the character.

Hm. I'll probably buy it to add to my collection...just wasn't amazed.

Yes I've seen this a lot. I think the film makers think that if they film in abandon buildings that's all they need to do to make a half-decent horror movie.

Decent acting. Decent story. Well used gore. 80's horror movie music except the one Turkish pop song.Takes about 45 minutes to become really good, but its worth it.
