crackers, pate and a couple of goblets of red.

Mom made a wonderful stew last night. It was called chicken burgundy. It had paprika, celery, chicken, a little bit of pork, carrots, pure ground water, some wine, basil, thyme, this list is going to be long.

It was awesome!

cheebacheeba 09-29-2015 08:10 AM

That actually sounds pretty good - did you cook it fairly slowly?

Tonight, I had 3 steamed Cha siu bao. Those are the chinese bbq pork buns with the kind of sweet, soft bread exterior.
I had some chilli soy splashed over them.
Probably not too healthy, but one of those things we love to have from time to time.
Having like 4 asian supermarkets in my town kind of helps...

Who is this "Mom", and how do I get her to make me that amazing sounding stew?!

Veggies and lots of water for me. Still battling stinkin' kidney stones.

hammerfan 09-29-2015 08:35 AM

Welsh cookies

Yep cooked it fairly slow. I am hoping that she will be cooking up some Hungarian Goulash. That stuff is amazing! As you may have already guessed, we like to make German, French, Cajun, Indian, the list is going to be long so I will just end it here.

Sorry, I don't really hand out names on the internet. But I can get you the recipe.

Last night I went to have dinner with some relatives that I have not seen in years. We had grilled chicken, salad, baked potatoes, and tea.
It felt good being with some of my relatives.

No sweat, share that recipe and "Mom" is all the information that I'll ask for.

hammerfan 09-30-2015 09:07 AM

Not really sure what you'd call this...I guess something loosely a bit like a paella?
This is what I get when myself and the woman collaborate.
We were meant to be having chicken wings.

Chicken wings that were marinated in a garlic and black pepper sauce, a little diced bacon, some chilli inside and outside coated chorizo, and a few baby octopus.
Chopped onion, garlic, tomatoes, carrot, single clove garlic, bay leaf, kaffir lime leaf.
Water. Whole black peppercorns, and a little tomato paste.
Some rice too.
Probably a few other things I'm not remembering just now.
Been cooking it slow after an initial boiling point.

This whole place smells amazing.
Grilling some afghan bread to go with it.

hammerfan 10-02-2015 06:49 AM

I need to move in with you.

I had some reheated leftover pizza hut pizza.

A slice of thin base pepperoni, and deep pan plain cheese with parsley and oregano.
I added just a little more mozzarella over the top.

Had a glass of filtered water.
About to have some tea.

Vodstok 10-03-2015 11:56 PM

An overcooked Omaha Steaks kielbasa and a bloody Mary made with Carolina reaper and Trinidad scorpion sauce

How the fuck are you people?

Dude! Is it the end of times?! Good to see you here! How's the family?

Billie 10-06-2015 03:57 AM

I don't get the idea of this question )) I get adventurous when it comes to food and such :)
I recently had Buckwheat and later coffee but generally love cauliflower and beeeer :)

cheebacheeba 10-06-2015 04:19 AM

One of these, though it was a limited edition chocolate/banana flavour.
Not bad.
Probably broke my diet...but that's ok, otherwise pretty light day.

For lunch I had some lime flavoured tuna in a mixed salad of kale, cabbage, carrot, beetroot, threw in a little herbal salt.

After gym I drank some small vanilla flavoured protein drink thing - I find it fills me up enough to not worry about food after gym, and it's meant to be good for recovery, so I've found it at least makes the delayed onset pain a little less annoying.

I don't get the idea of this question
Well, back under my other name, I'm actually the guy that started this thread way back - it's not the first iteration of it either...can't recall if it was me that created the first one but as you'll see it's kind of a long standing thread.

I can only give you my version of what the idea was.
I like food. I like cooking, preparation and sharing food with family and friends.
I've tried some pretty interesting things, and I've done my fair share of studies on the subject matter both officially and at home.

For me, the sharing part was what it was about - if I could show someone how to make something or say "Hey, I just had this, try it" kind of thing, I just got a personal satisfaction from it I guess. Can't say why.

Exchanging ideas, and recipes at times...just fun for me...and I find it valuable too, I've seen and tried a few things mentioned in this very thread, not to mention it's kind of like when people talk about older movies, sometimes I've thought "Mannn, I haven't had that in ages, I could really go for some".

I think that it's a topic that resonates with a lot of people, from those that work in the industry, to those that make instant noodles.
Not to mention, it's kind of something that I personally come back in to here and there, even when I'm not too frequent a member any more, I like to keep it updated and check it out, sometimes it gives me reason to post when I don't have too much else to say - because I find it easy, and maybe even soothing to talk about.

Anyhow, I suppose that was the idea behind the question, or ideas as it were.
I'm sure everyone has their own means and motives for contributing, and if that keeps this old thread alive I encourage it.
So welcome.
I'll say that in this thread, where you'll likely see me most.

Can I just say I miss cheap-ass packaged ramen?! I used to devour that crap, but the sodium count keeps me away these days. I know it's not gourmet food...or even edible to some, lol..but I miss my damn cheap-ass packaged ramen!

I know a lot of people that buy the ramen and throw away the seasoning packet and use their own.

cheebacheeba 10-06-2015 06:30 AM

I personally quite like going into asian supermarkets,
(I don't know what they're like wherever you guys are at, but here, they're massive and awesome)
and picking up random instant noodles.
Can be very hit and miss, but the "good" ones, make the western made instant noodles just seem like so much blech.
Though I am kind of guilty of stocking up these noodles and seldom actually eating them. I always think, yeah, theyre cheap. I might need them at some point...a lot end up getting thrown out.

I remember as a child, I used to regard instant noodles, even just standard beef/chicken flavours, as one of my favourite things to eat.

I've actually been having a bit of a crazing for broccoli and choy sum, I will probably go pick a bit up tomorrow, lightly steam or blanch it with some finely sliced garlic and put a few spots of sesame oil and chilli soy on there.

I've considered trying that, but then I couldn't complain about not being able to eat cheap-ass ramen anymore.

Having some instant decaf...I usually only drink "good" coffee, "real" coffee...but the wife keeps this in the house and I didn't feel like tea.
It's an organic one, and as far as both instant and decaf goes, it's surprisingly tolerable.

I am reheating my heathy breakfast of some pizza hut pizza I froze about 2 weeks ago. Something with chicken and pineapple on it.

tfantasy 10-15-2015 07:16 AM

Gluten free pumpkin whoopie pies.....OMG, these are frickin amazing!! You would not know that these were dairy/gluten free ::love:: ::love::

My husband picked them up for me at a health food store.

cheebacheeba 10-23-2015 02:51 PM

About to have a slice of reheated prawn & pineapple pizza. Will probably put some chilli powder on there.

Morningriser 10-23-2015 03:08 PM

Just had a Morningstar chicken burger with cheese, onion and mayo. I am not a vegetarian but I do eat vegan foods sometimes. Most of it is really good actually and has more protein than regular meat.

MichaelMyers 10-23-2015 03:24 PM

Chef Boyardee spaghetti.

Morningriser 10-24-2015 11:48 AM

bamahorrorfan87 10-24-2015 11:51 AM

cheebacheeba 10-24-2015 04:09 PM

I had a slice of light rye toast, with some cream cheese and chilli tuna.
Cup of tea.
I grabbed couple of squares of Cadbury chocolate too.

Morningriser 10-24-2015 05:05 PM

French fries made in a little vegetable oil with some salt, garlic powder and oregano

The Bloofer Lady 10-24-2015 06:13 PM

Hot buttered toast.

hammerfan 10-24-2015 08:30 PM

Had a bag of Fritos and am on my 3rd glass of Pinot Noir
