The Informers (2009)

Only good thing about it was the cast including Amber Heard who appeared fully nude most of her screen time and nothing did much of acting except some sex scenes.
Highly recommended to V. ;)

A pretty nice & engaging old-school thriller.

I'm happy you've moved on to being obsessed with Amber. Now I can feel free to talk about how I think Megan Fox looks like an airbrushed male mannequin without offending my wittle V!

I was like "Jonah Hex!? Seriously!? Fuck yeah!" then "Josh Brolin! Even better!" then, the day came "Megan Fox!?... fuck..."

Yeah... About that... I'm going to see "The Informant!" instead. Don't care for Diablo Cody either.

MovieLover12 09-05-2009 11:33 AM

Hatchet. If you love blood, guts, shocks, scares and arms being ripped off, you will love this! :D

The Final Destination (2009)

Well, delivers exactly what it tries to. If you're looking for some more (admittedly inventive) Rube Goldberg-style deaths and lots of CGI blood flying at the screen, this is your movie. But if you want a coherent plot or characters that are more than carbon-copy cardboard cutouts, look elsewhere.

I've yet to see #3, but as far as I can tell this series should have called it quits after the original. The first is one of my favourite modern slashers, but all the sequels I've seen are just lazy attempts to cash in. The beauty of the first wasn't just the cool deaths - it actually had a half-decent script and some fresh ideas. Like I say, I can't speak for the third, otherwise the rest of the series is just a string of crazy kills without any other reason to care.

You can tell from the trailer if you'll like this one or not. Personally, I'm glad I caught it at a discount theatre - it wasn't a complete waste of time, but I would have been pissed if I'd paid full price.

cheebacheeba 09-05-2009 04:26 PM

I just hope it was better than #3.
While I didn't enjoy #2 quite as much as the first, it was still a decent sequel...the third one I think I've rewatched ONCE and that's it.

Last night saw "Mystery of the Wax Museum" which came as a bonus feature on my copy of the original "House of Wax".
Not a bad watch, though I enjoyed H.O.W a fair bit more - mainly because it was clearly a lot more towards horror. However, I'd reco Mystery to anyone that likes H.O.W, it was interesting to see where it found its origins, and pretty solid performances there too. Some hot oldsckool chicks...

cheebacheeba 09-05-2009 09:21 PM

Just got done with House of Wax.
Having both fresh in my mind, while there's elements of the second one I prefer, parts of me actually think the first (mystery) one might've just been a superior film.

They're both cool though.

It must've been from something else, but I have an image in my head of a villain with multiple faces either breaking/melting away, not just the one...thought it was the original HOW but obviously I was wrong - any ideas on what this was?

That's the girl from Halloween, right?

Personally, I've been googley-eyes over Mélanie Laurent since I saw Inglourious Basterds.

Lawrence of Arabia (1962.) Epic!

Videodrome (1983). For its time those special effects were absolutely amazing. Pretty twisted and grimey flick that would have nonplused its viewer back in its day. Still a great flick. Ashe.

Thoughts?

I really liked it despite all the bad criticisms its got.

cheebacheeba 09-06-2009 09:30 AM

Monsters VS Aliens.
I'm sure kids would love this. I got a decent few laughs, nice animation, good enough voice acting (Sutherland was pretty cool...obviously he'd be someone military), and a storyline that didn't bore.
I think this one might wear a bit thin after repeated viewings though, I liked it.

The_Return 09-06-2009 09:46 AM

The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover (1989)

What a beautifully intricate film. I think it would take multiple viewings to really appreciate all the layers at work here, but this first exposure had me pretty overwhelmed. Incredible piece of cinematic art.

basic story/premise was fine, shame some of the effects weren't up to scratch

visually stunning

The Final Destination 3D. Not a good movie, obviously, but a lot of fun.

Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Had to catch this one again while it's still in theatres - and I actually think I enjoyed it even more the second time. Hands-down best movie of the summer, so many brilliant moments.

Landa's opening scene has to be one of the greatest sequences in Tarantino's career...if not in recent cinema as a whole. Sheer brilliance.

BH14 09-06-2009 09:30 PM

Fighting...

Don't watch it. I was hoping that there would be some good fighting/martial art scenes. The fighting scenes were so lame unless you are into a lot of rear naked choke holds. Lame plot as well.

cheebacheeba 09-06-2009 10:56 PM

Ha, I thought you said "chode holds" for a minnit there...:D

A NoES 6: Freddy's Dead - The Final Nightmare (1991)

>>: D+

Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...dy_krueger.jpg

Only Mr. Craven could do it and glad he did it eventually...a real worthy sequel for one of the most popular horror franchise of 80's which was originally created by himself. He put a simple but clever & interesting plot that can only crafted by a genius like him in the genre. Loved Freddy's new gorgeous glove and particularly really liked his outfit at the hospital while slashing Julie..the babysitter.

>>: B+

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Always been a blast to watch for me....a total entertaining Slasher package from start to finish. Kudos to the people who were behind this film...quite impressively they did a very decent job for the fans of both series.

The Burning, Freddy Vs Jason, Halloween II (for the 3rd time)

Elvis_Christ 09-07-2009 01:27 AM

Fuck I love The Burning

One of the flicks that made me a die hard horror fan.

zombie ash 09-07-2009 01:39 AM

it was pretty good. i feel a sleep at the end of it cause i was up for to long. but im gonna have to watch it again. oh i also forgot about Suicide Club (Suicide Circle). i watched that today. i love that movie. one of the best beganing to a movie ever. *spoil*54 in the first minute lol

stenchofdeath 09-07-2009 03:05 AM

Dead and Buried, pretty violent, and had some shitty acting....

Watched most of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) on TV...not too bad, but wasn't really paying much attention near the end. Didn't seem nearly as awful as people make it out to be.

Disease 09-07-2009 07:25 PM

Wassup Rockers

Pretty good, it's one of Larry Clarks more accesible movies I think. Not overly confronting yet it still is raw.

7.5/10

Blood Feast 2

I didn't expect this to be as much fun as it was, though it is so overdone for me it was better than the origanal. More comical.

8/10

Elvis_Christ 09-07-2009 08:09 PM

The Killer

It didn't floor me like it did when I first saw it years ago but this flick is still amazing and essential viewing.
